I had dinner with my girls last night. We did not make it to the cemetery to visit though. Instead we cooked a great dinner, drank a ton of wine, reminisced about our friend in heaven, and planned a baby shower for one of them (she's due in March). It was a good night. Late with too much wine, but much needed. All the coffee today!
No plans for today. Thankful it's Friday though, ready for my husband to be home to help with the kids. I've been in such a crappy mood lately.
We are planning a kitchen update for spring, which I'm so excited for. Right now my kitchen is so, so ugly. Tile countertops and matching backsplash. A really gross paint color on cabinets/walls. We have a very small budget, like 1k , so everything is going to be diy. Luckily I have a very handy husband. We're thinking a stained concrete countertop, really pretty backsplash, painting cabinets and walls, and replacing the ugly hardware.

I hope your DD is better soon tuscanlatte! I'm at the dentist but the good news is I have the whole day off work and DS is at daycare. Maybe I will take a nap after I get my crown.
redandblue how have things been with DS1? Good luck on the house stuff, do you have much to do to list your house?
Things with DS1 have been marginally better. Still trying to coordinate counseling. We have been talking a bit more and he is around more. Currently our biggest issue is for him to get up in the morning. Like I don't understand why he has such a hard time with this. And it's so frustrating, because that is how we start our day.
In terms of our house, we were given pretty minor things to finish. We have to finish the stairs going downstairs (still not completed from our recent basement reno) and some touch up paint really. We are so up in the air about what we are doing, and still pretty disappointed about this house. Like nothing else will probably compare, unless we build new. Which seems so risky. We will see. Going to sleep on it over the weekend and then decide what our next steps will be.

redandblue I'm glad you've been talking more with DS1. I was totally that teenager who had the hardest time waking up. I had an impressive number of late arrivals to high school my senior year.
mrspiatt @janetheconquerer , sorry for the struggles with your H's. It is such a difficult thing to go through. +1432058 for being here for you both and offering whatever support you need.

Sadly I think nothing can top what record DS1 is currently going for. Sigh. Like if we didn't have to deal with this, most of our contact would be more pleasant. But the fights in the morning set the tone for the day (trying to give consequences/motivators for him to get up and go on time. Then he doesn't do it, so have to follow through on the consequence, which is something later in the day, and then the whole damn day is ruined).

Guys this has been the saddest week My neighbour passed away on Sunday. She was 74 and in failing health for the past year or two. Then this morning I woke up to a message that M's biological brothers adoptive mother passed away suddenly on Tuesday. I'm in shock and my heart breaks for those boys and their father. She was mid-30's and really was a kind, loving and smart lady. Although we have only known them for the past year and half, and our visits were slightly awkward, she was really a lovely woman.

@mrspanpan, not a terrible person at all. If he is fine, and they continue to check him, there is no need for you to go. If he starts acting abnormal, then yes go get him. This will be the 'first' of many many falls for him, I'm sure. His daycare providers are there to care for him, including after he falls.

@mrspanpan +1 to not getting him. J did something similar a month or so ago - the preschool called and said he fell, hit his head on a chair, but only cried for a few seconds and seemed fine. I asked if he was acting abnormally at all and they said no, so I let him finish the day. Kids are pretty resilient.
I'm getting my hair done this afternoon. ampaints I was really inspired by your blue and red combo. I think it looked so cool. Not sure it's appropriate for me since I'm about to start about a month straight of interviewing potential interns, so now I'm stuck on what to do. I'm tempted to just tell my stylist to get creative and choose the color herself.
I just got a call from daycare that DS fell and bumped his forehead. They sent a picture and it doesn't look too bad. They said that he didn't cry too bad and they checked his pupils and they were fine. Am I a terrible person for not going to get him? They said they would keep watching him.
Toddlers fall. Did they really expect you to leave for that? I wouldn't.
layloo08, I'm not into sweet drinks– if I go to Starbucks I usually get an almond milk cappuccino, latte or misto, so the mild flavor might be something I'm into. I'll probably give it a try.
@mrspanpan, let him stay put!
mommabakes, your new kitchen plans sound awesome! I love a good DIY project– have fun and take photos!
@janetheconquerer, your evening sounds like it was a good tribute to a great friend who left you too soon.
Today is my WFH day, but since the semester just started, there's not very much to do. I'm going to try to get the last of our packing done– move is Sunday!
