I need today to go by quickly so I can get to my AS tomorrow and finally find out who's growing in there!! So I think today DS will run out to Old Navy and the grocery store.
I hope all the sick mamas and sick kids are feeling better today!
So exciting lupincat! Hope the day goes by quickly.
I have a bunch of meetings today, and then I'm hoping to go to the gym. I don't want to do anything crazy, but some time on the bike and treadmill would be nice.

I'm running on 2 1/2 hours sleep today because of my coughing fits last night. MH said that when I actually was asleep, I kept "whimpering" in my sleep. So the sleep I did get was crap. I need all the caffeine today!

BabyStandish, how is your DS with the doctor? DD has her 3 year appt in a few weeks and she is deathly afraid of the doctor (well, more the nurses because they're the ones who give her shots.) Even the mere mention that she is going to need to go and she starts freaking out. We told her she's not getting any needles this time but I don't think she believes us. I wish I could pay someone to take her because I am not looking forward to the meltdown.
+1 to the meltdown club. sleepymonkey, this may sound silly but does she have an issue with elevators or public restrooms?
When DS1 had his 6 month shots, the nurse who gave them was awful and had three of us hold him down because she jabbed him so freaking hard. It's the only time I ever cried with him getting his shots. After that, he's hated the doctors, going into a public restroom and refuses to get in an elevator because of the way the lights shine on him (similar in all three situations).

sleepymonkey I don't think he's been to the Dr since his 18 month appt. He's not the biggest fan of it that's for sure, but does ok. I think this appt will be the sign of things to come though since he's a lot more aware of what's going on around him.

hpnegirl, she doesn't have an issue with elevators or public restrooms, though she did when she had bad stranger anxiety. At her 2-yr appt she was fine in the waiting room but then started crying as soon as she saw the nurses. She fights them on everything. And then it doesn't really let up with the doctor. The worst is when the doc tries to check her ears. She has always hated anything going in her ears - even when she was an infant, we could not use an ear thermometer. The last time she went to the doc was in October just to get her flu shot and MH said she started getting nervous as soon as they went in the waiting room so I can only imagine what it will be like this time. We have tried to talk to her about it, read her books about going to the doctor and she watches Doc McStuffins sometimes but she's still terrified.
I know it is kind of far away but I am freaking out about going into labor. I had my 1st at 40 weeks 1 day 2nd and 3rd 37 weeks, 4th was my only induction at 39 weeks. I am hoping this baby just waits to be induced. We moved to another state and I am far from family, and have no idea who would watch my 4 kids when I go into labor. Being induced family will be there, but surprise at 37 weeks like my 2nd and 3rd, I have no idea what to do! I guess I have a long time to try to figure it out?
We're also trying to figure that out since our standard go-to (in-laws) will be out of the country around my due date (they scheduled a cruise before they knew I was pregnant, and we aren't about to let them cancel it as it's a cruise route that only happens once every 5-10 years).
So far I think we have a decent plan. We have friends that live across the street from kiddo's pre-K, a neighbor who works in the same building as kiddo's pre-K and close friends who kiddo live a mile from our house who commute past kiddo's pre-K.
Figure if it happens overnight on a weeknight, neighbor can come over and spend the night and take kiddo to pre-K the next morning. During the day on a weekday, kiddo gets picked up by friend or neighbor, depending on who's free and overnights with whoever can easily drop off the next morning. On a weekend, then close friends take kiddo. I should make sure to write all of this down in an email to all of them. Two of the 3 families have kids close to kiddo's age who kiddo knows well. Third family, kiddo knows well enough not to be upset by them.
Happy Tuesday, all! I'm home with DS today who's still sick and it just keeps getting weirder. Now he has this crazy rash that is only on his right side of his body, chest and back but nowhere else. Plus the fever and the croup. We were at the pedi office this morning and after lots of fun swabs and pokes, and a parade of docs to lay eyes on the rash (plus all the docs/nurses I work with that I've texted pics too haha!), we still don't have a diagnosis. Poor DS was so done with all the swabs by the end he was coming up with all kinds of reasons to leave like "have to watch Dory", "need to go Daddy's office" and my favorite "I need to go store buy apples" 😂 Sorry, buddy.
They also had me call my OB to let them know if been exposed to whatever this mysterious virus is, so I'll drop by there this week to get some bloodwork and see if I have Parvo immunity. The rash doesn't look like parvo but better safe than sorry. Is it spring yet??? I'm over all these winter germs.

I'm kind of kicking myself for not making the appointment to meet with the genetic counselor sooner because the more time that goes by the more I'm freaking myself out. I have my regular OB appt on Thursday and the GC on Friday, but I'm hoping they can do the blood draw for the DNA testing at my dr office on Thursday.
I haven't really discussed it with him yet but my little brother is the only family we have nearby so I plan to ask him to come stay with DD until my parents or my ILs can get there. It is ridiculous that its even a question since my parents are only 2 hours away and the ILs are about 10 but my parents really took their time coming down when I went into labor with DD so I'm not feeling super comfortable relying on them. Maybe they would have more urgency since this time they'd be coming to actually be with DD instead of being there to let our dogs out but they took so long that my DH actually left the hospital to drive home (30 mins each way) and let the dogs out while I was in labor, and he was back at the hospital before my parents arrived.

So I take back what I said sleepymonkey, DS HATED everything about the appt. I pretty much had to hold him for everything and we had to bribe him to get on the scale.

sagen We are trying to figure that out too. All my family lives really far away. I know my Mom is coming sometime, but my cousin is getting married on May 28th about 2-3 hours from our town so if I go into labor then, then I won't have her to rely on. I think I'm going to ask my neighbor to come if it's sudden/or in the MOTN. If my mom isn't here then we might ask MIL. But I'm not sure what she'll say since she's weird. Plus, she doesn't really know how to handle kids for long periods of time.

It's kinda funny, but sad that we heard from both my parents and DH's Dad/stepmom yesterday wishing DS a happy birthday, but not a peep from MIL. I wish she'd at least try sometimes.

The kale and goat cheese sound yummy, but I am suspicious of the beets.
sagen This is why I'm really hoping I end up being induced again. It's so much easier (in my mind) to line up care for DS, the dog, and cats if I know what day I'm going in to the hospital. I'm freaked out about going into labor on my own in the middle of the night and having to scramble. My OB won't induce without a medical reason so I suppose we'll just cross that bridge when we get to it.

Lol I was too. You make the best pesto so it's actually pretty tasty. You roast the beets and then blend with with garlic gloves, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon, and toasted walnuts. Garlic is pretty overpowering so that helped. I have beets leftover though and I have no idea what to do with them.

That's sad I'm glad he has other, involved grandparents.

I have what I assume is a migraine, since it's also making me nauseated and dizzy. Goodbye gym plans, hello couch. I know I should go somewhere dark and lay down, but I lost hours to a nap yesterday and don't want to. Argh.
I think I just have to accept that working out will be sporadic and I may just have to do a bit more work postpartum.
sleepymonkey DD was deathly afraid of doctors and nurses. We ended up buying her a toy doctor kit and helping her check all of her stuffed animals to see if they were healthy. Then at her next appointment she brought a bear with her and her pedi was great about having DD check her bears ears, etc before checking DDs. She's still anxious, but she's come a long way and it's no longer a matter of holding her arms and legs down for an exam, which totally sucked.

icedtea I definitely give myself more slack on skipping workouts or cutting them short when pregnant. If you're not feeling good then it wouldn't be a quality workout anyway so it's better to listen to your body. Hope your head feels better.

Ugh. I'm glad he has the rest of his grandparents!
