Long term goals are the same. Goals this week: healthy meal choices, drink more water, walk as much as I can at a good pace (today was just under 17 min/mile so I'd like to continue to stay under 20 min/mile).
Tomorrow I'll meal plan for the week and make my grocery list. Still trying to drink at each nursing session. Some days I do well, others not as much. It's supposed to be rainy this week, but maybe I can do some laps at Target or Home Depot or something if need be.
I'm doing well with food. I've been working on small changes for a couple of years now so it's the easier part to get back into.
The weather is making it hard to find ways to exercise. We have a gym membership, but the childcare doesn't start until 4 months old so I have to arrange for my mom to babysit. She's been really busy and hasn't been able to. I hope we can figure out a good system so I can still get in my workout even when the weather won't cooperate.
danib I've tried videos at home and I haven't really enjoyed it. I think I need the other people around me for motivation to keep going. There's not an indoor track here that I am aware of. That's why I said walking around a store. With Lillian I used to walk the mall, but the closest mall that's not outdoors is too far to drive to regularly now.
Oh, also, I'm going to walk a 5k on Saturday. It'll be my first 5k since I was about 5 weeks with Lilah. I'm hoping to complete it in about 50 minutes wearing Lilah. DH will be running with Lillian in our jogging stroller.
Yesterday we walked about 3 miles at a lake near us. I only recorded 2.34 on my phone since we let Lillian walk with us the rest of the way. Too bad I didn't record the rest because it started raining and we had to run some. I felt very proud of myself. I can tell I'm gaining stamina and speed even if I can't get out as much as I'd like.
I had a crap week last week. I only did my DVD once. I threw in some squats/lunges a few other days but it doesn't quite feel the same. We have a dome with an indoor track right down the road that I completely forgot about. I'm going to check out walking hours this week.

I've also been avoiding this thread... I need to get my act together so I can comfortably fit in my work pants. I have 2 sizes, the larger size buttons but it's not comfortable. I think they will fit much better with 5 lbs gone. I'm much better at eating healthy than working out. Just need to get my mind in the right place. I'm justifying my eating by saying I shouldn't be dieting if I'm breastfeeding... but I also shouldn't be shoving carrot cake in my mouth either!

cookswithwine9 I totally get using the no diet because of breastfeeding thing. It's hard because you know you need more calories and shouldn't "diet diet" and then use that to justify eating all the things. Every time I want to cave I ask myself if I REALLY want it or if I'm craving it because it's there or I saw it on TV/the Internet. It helps, but it's difficult to resist sometimes. I also try to remind myself that eating healthy food isn't dieting. It's just eating. I can get my 2400 calories eating things that are good for me instead of by eating chick fil a and cake.
Okay so I still haven't properly checked in this week but I have a question, maybe kinda TMI.
LSS I ditched my previous challenge for a different one that has a less restrictive-feeling meal plan and much more challenging workouts. Today was Day 3 and I am loving it. The workouts are hard but I don't feel like I'm overdoing it; they are similar to what I used to do pre-pregnancy and actually continued to do up to 25 weeks pregnant with D.
Tonight I noticed a spot of blood (red) in my underwear and more when I wiped. I haven't had any bleeding for at least 3 weeks (probably more) and haven't worn a liner at all for exactly 2 weeks now.
Do we think this is an issue that I should bring up with my OB? I was cleared 100% to exercise at my appointment 2 weeks ago and even eased back in slowly by doing the less intense workout program all last week. I would be flabbergasted if it were my period returning. Any thoughts? Anyone dealt with something like this?
dashook How much are we talking? A few spots? Enough for a liner? Also what color?
It's red. Just a spot in my underwear then some on the TP. I put on a liner and there is a spot in there too.
This might sound odd but can you get a mirror to try and see where it's coming from? After I had Lillian, I'd get these little spots of red blood. I initially thought it was my period starting, but then it would stop. Turns out it was granulated scar tissue. It can bleed periodically. When I finally looked, I could see it had this weird reddish skin along where I tore that was bleeding. Could it be that?
ClassyMrsA yeah I could check. Did you have any pain when it was the scar tissue bleeding? waitwhat yeah it seems way too soon for AF, especially since I'm still nursing constantly and my cycles took 10 months to come back after DS! ETA: I don't have any symptoms of it, but I also didn't have any to speak of when it came back after DS.

dashook No pain generally speaking. It did make sex extremely painful and was sore if I poked at it, but normal daily life, no. This scar tissue basically happens when you heal too well. If that is what you've got going on, your dr can remove it. It's fast and they numb you so it doesn't hurt.
starbuck27 I think you also wanted us to ask you for an update on your week? jubilantsquirrel, how is Whole30 going? FFTC I've been stalking that thread all month, nabbing recipes.

dashook, thanks for checking in! It's going well. I've just been sticking to salads for lunch, which is boring, but it does the trick. My last day is going to be the 29th (so technically it's a Whole29) because I turn 30 on the 30th and I want alcohol and sweets.
So I'm seeing a pattern (at least with myself): I start the week really determined and focused. By mid-week I'm tired and my motivation is really dwindling, and by the end I've completely given up (and plan to do better the next week). Repeat cycle.
I'm not sure how to break the cycle.
Would it help to maybe set your active days back to 3 days and then work up to 5? It sounds like you're doing well with everything else, right? So maybe if you take the active days back to 3 and keep the rest the same, you'll find more success with meeting that goal and instead of feeling like you have to try again, you get a feeling of wanting to push harder and add another day.
Just thinking of what has worked for me with that kind of cycle.
