My guess is that if he didn't have it in a will they could overturn his decision. It sucks, but it would be up to his next of kin.
Don't you have a donor register or something like that? Over here you receive a letter when you've turned 18 asking if you want to be a donor and what you're willing to donate (everything, not X-Y, not for scientific purposes etc). If you send it back you receive a card to put in your wallet stating that you are a donor. At the moment our government is working on a system in which everyone is a donor unless you have object to this.
This was my UO once upon a time. You should have to opt out.
I actually know someone who says, "Well, if God wants them to die we shouldn't interfere."
By that logic, you shouldn't seek medical treatment or take any medications, either. But he does...

Oh God, I'm so sorry.
I'm one of those people that won't put it on their license because I'm ridiculous but everyone knows I want my organs used. MH doesn't want his organs used, which is so unlike everything else about him. It's strange. It's probably the only thing we get in huge fights over.

I know the urban legend of them not resuscitating you isn't true, I just get nervous whenever I go to the DMV and they ask if I want to change anything. I have it expressly written in other places and family members know and respect it, so I just roll with my craziness.
