Ok so the little has been refusing to nurse for 2 days, except at bedtime and middle of the night, or if I get him half asleep first. He also will only take a couple sucks of the bottle before pushing it away. He is eating his solid food fine. He is currently on day 7 of antibiotics for a double ear infection. He may also be teething.
WWM14 do? What's the deal?
Eta he's 7.5 months and happy as can be. He's on probiotics to prevent diarhhea from the antibiotics and is pooping fine. Nothing weird there. Normal spit up.
I would go back to the pedi and get his ears rechecked. Maybe the antibiotic isn't working. If there still an EI, that will solve the problem. If that's not it, I have no idea.
Maybe he's just lost interest in breastfeeding and milk in general as he's getting what he wants since being weaned.
This happened with DD1 at about 10 months and DS at 9 months. I could only really feed them last thing at night - neither showed any interest in sucking.
I was really sad when it happened with DD1 as I wasn't ready. But with DS I kind of realised it was nice that they'd given up in their own time and on their terms.
Hmm if the EI hasn't cleared up, the sucking motion can be painful so maybe there's still some lingering fluid? That's the only thing I can think of.
Yea I was thinking that. But why would he still like sucking on his paci?
I think a paci is easier to suck. BF uses different toungue and mouth motion than a bottle as well. You can try syringe or cup feeding with a small shot glass.

I did end up doing that but he still didn't want much. He nursed at bedtime fine. Hope he does better tomorrow.
Neither of my kids have had ear infections, so I'm not sure how that affects things, but DS2 always cuts way back on nursing while he is cutting a tooth. He starts back up when he feels better and my supply has been fine. When he's teething he prefers a cold bottle, so sometimes I pump and rotate my freezer stash so he can have it cold. He has 8 teeth already so I'm hoping we get a break from teething for a bit.
