What would you do with this info? (tw possible child abuse)

Dd is in kindergarten. Yesterday she said to me "R told me his mom and dad are bad guys and they punch him in the face". She said he has boo boos on his face.

I know that 5 year olds often walk a fine line between pretend and reality. But what if it's true? Should I email the teacher? I would be mortified if dh and I had to be checked out over a very not true rumor but...what if it's true?

Yes email the teacher. She can talk to the student and report. Unfortunately, teachers deal with this quite a bit and have the tools to handle it.

Yeah, I would email the teacher. She can make a decision then. It might not be true but I think better safe than sorry.

Thank you all. It was my first instinct to email the teacher. I really hope it's just kids saying crazy things!

The parents could just be playing "bad guys" and pretending, but if there is actual evidence of abuse, the teacher will handle it.

honda13 I heard back from the teacher. She thanked me for calling it to her attention and said it would be handled appropriately.
