2chatter - that stinks. DD1 has had it 3 times now. It just seems to wipe her out. She sleeps like 12 hrs at night, sometimes will even nap on top of that. It can also take a long time to get her breath back. She was winded more easily for a couple of months.
DS wants to play hockey next year. Ice time is at 7:00 and we live 30 minutes in foo weather from the rink. I see lots of early mornings on my horizon.
I have an unintentional 4 day weekend. I was home yesterday with a sick DS. The universe decided it hates me, and our power went out at 7am.. and came back on around 6:30am today. After listening to DD complain she was cold after DC, I decided to start a fire.. brought all the wood in, tossed a few logs on.. only to find roaches freaking scurrying out everywhere. SO NASTY.
I just sent DH to drop DD off at ballet only to find out.. there's no class today (which we knew, I just forgot). We have a bday party at 5, another tomorrow morning, and then I solo parent both kids on Monday, and if the power is out again, heads will roll.

I figured now is as good a day as any to drop back in!
MH is forcing me to stay home from the NICU today since I'm not really taking care of myself. It's like I'm ignoring the fact that I had major abdominal surgery a week ago. I'm pretty upset about not seeing my baby today. Like, really upset. And my ILs are bringing lunch over before they go to the hospital with MH so I have to pretend I'm okay. Eff today.
Also pretty upset that for (at least) two weeks of my 12 week ML, C will be in the NICU. Again, eff today.
Pity party, your table for one is ready. Ugh
In lighter news, MH got his commission check and our tax refunds came in so I'm feeling better about our ML savings. Whomever said money doesn't buy happiness must have had too much money LOL

oldbaylover1024 - two weeks seems like forever but she will be home quickly in the grand scheme of things. For today can you schedule your downtime at home so you actually do things you enjoy? Like 1-3 read. 3-5 bake premade cookies and watch Netflix movie. Or whatever. Give yourself something to look forward to after surviving lunch.

oldbaylover1024 I'd be throwing a pity party too but your H is right that you do need to take care of yourself. Your little love will be home in no time.
oldbaylover1024 - it's so hard to balance recovery and nicu time. Can you rest for 4-5 hours and then head down there for a couple of hours? I refused to go a day without seeing my babies. Even if it was only for an hour or two. Taking care of your emotional health will help your physical health.

I'd love to visit C more than anything, but honestly I think MH would deny me a ride. If I'm honest with myself, he's right. I need to rest. I'm overdoing it big time. Plus, I had incision issues with J so he's rightfully worried.
I just miss C so much. And the NICU experience is so much harder than I ever imagined it would be. You surely can't prepare yourself for this.

oldbaylover1024 Sorry...you can have the biggest pity party you want but take today and rest so you have lots of energy when baby oldbaylover gets home. Plus you can nanny-nanny-poo-poo to all your co-workers who are slaving away at work!
DH wished me happy birthday today. So far my day has been absolutely crazy. DD is doing great being quiet while my office is going crazy. Good thing I got my Dutch Bros mocha this morning DD gets picked up at 1 by a friend to go to a pool party and I will get CAKE when I pick her up!!! I have a feeling I'm going to be taking more work home with me than I planned for tomorrow...
Ugh day one of potty training was a failure. DS never peed in the potty but he would yell and run to the potty when he went. Sometimes he would sit on the potty and do nothing and then 10 seconds later pee on the floor.
I hope that this is normal and tomorrow will go better.
xctsclrx totally normal. We potty trained over the holidays and my son did both of those things. Your son running to the potty after peeing is progress. Hang in there!
It's now been two months for us and while my son is still not 100% potty trained (in that we have to remind him to go still, rather than him always realizing on his own) we now go days at a time with no accidents. Good luck!

No long weekend for us. DH and I both have to work tomorrow. DS1 will come to a camp program at my work since school will be closed. DS2 will be at DC.
We spent the weekend outside as much as possible and had an impromptu pitch in with the neighbors for dinner. Nice way to end the day.
Now I'm "plopping" my hair to see if it will make my somewhat wavy/curly hair look intentionally curly so I don't have to dry it in the morning (instead of just a hot mess). Fingers crossed.
