I must have had 10 private messages from one FB neighborhood page. I even had a guy give me his card at Home Depot when he asked for help in gardening and I offhand mentioned I am growing flowers this year because I normally grow veggies but we are going to sell our house and move this year.
My dad has been a full time Realtor for over 30 years (my whole life). He works his ass off for his clients. The good Realtors get business by referrals and don't need to do tons of advertising.
Yes, we have one. Which I had already made clear before all the PMs. Or so I thought. DH works at the tv station and a local realtor used to have a show on his station, and he made her opening sequence etc and got to know her. She has been in the business for decades, is a broker, etc. In this market we feel like networking is everything, at least on the buying side where houses disappear before they go on the market officially. She'll probably hand the listing piece off to another realtor, but I still feel good knowing she'll take care of us.
When I was in high school and one summer in college I worked as a receptionist at a real estate office. But most of my old friends have retired now. I learned very young that I do not have the personality to be a realtor. But I do have a good feel for what it takes (and a great deal of respect).
yikes, I don't really like most realtors. When people get pushy I usually tend to walk away so we don't mesh well.
I like them. They are usually very very nice, though some can tend to be fake nice. It is very much NOT my personality at all. I am logical and hate small talk. Realtors are great at schmoozing and I suck at it. But yeah they can be very opportunistic about getting your business.
Omg I want to move so bad. But I do not look forward to this process. I threw out a bunch of stuff I haven't touched in 10 years from when we moved IN and then cleaned out the plastic drawers that stored it. That was like 1/10,000th of the work and I am already over it lol. Sigh. Charlotte went through some DVDs and chose the ones we can give away or sell. Which is sweet but DVDs take up no space practically.
I enjoy moving. I like change and I am not sentimental so I love purging during moving times. This probably stems from being an army brat though.
DH on the other hand. He can't throw away anything. We have stuff from when he was in the Marine Corps and hasn't been in the Marines since 2006. I understand saving pictures or awards but why do we still have all the uniforms.
At least Charlotte is excited about moving too though. Maybe ask her to go through her toys and clothes and see what can be donated.
@xctallicanremember, I did. That is why she offered DVDs. Not really what I intended lol.
We have also started silently boxing up some things that will disappear in the move unless she actually asks about them beforehand. She gets anxiety around getting rid of toys etc.
We've gone through the process of buying two homes and were disappointed in the quality of our Realtors who represented us as buyers both times. I likened them to HGTV Realtors....ready to talk about kitchen upgrades and superficial decor stuff, but not prepped to do much digging about actual condition of the property, roof, age of HVACs, etc. I know that's mainly up to the home inspector also and not the Realtor, but an experienced Realtor who has seen thousands of houses over a career can sniff out the real condition of a house pretty quickly. Heck, my dad will crawl a crawl space of a house if he needs to.
