S1 broke out in spots while we were away (he was with my MIL). He had one of these spots at Christmas and it looked like ringworm, I put my all purpose nipple ointment on it and within days it was gone.
Instead of one spot, he now has about 20 of various sizes. The location of the first one is the largest. They start off very red and then fade to yellowish pink. The doctor at the clinic said it was likely excema and prescribed a steroid cream, but she didn't seem sure and also booked us for a dermatologist appointment in two weeks.
If the doctor was sure, I wouldn't be concerned but she seemed stumped.
The first spot looks exactly like the spot of eczema dd gets on her leg every winter.
When she was a baby she had a small spot on her bum the the pedi misdiagnosed as ringworm but was actually eczema.
Has he ever had dry skin or eczema?
He had MSPI as an infant, out grew it by 1yo. Had allergy testing done last that came back negative for everything. We requested it because got some excema on his hands (very mild) that went away when we removed dairy from his diet. Since the testing was negative he started eating it again but we don't push it.
I wouldn't say his skin is overly dry, but we usually do baths 2-3 times a week in the winter.
While at MIL he had baths everyday and ate a ton of dairy.
For topical ringworm that is not on the scalp, you can also try Lotrimin or really any athlete's foot cream. I might try that on one spots and then Benadryl and Cortisone on another spot to see what the reactions are.
This is what I was thinking of doing. Science project time!
I know Larry happened. Please do not try to convince me otherwise. Please don't talk to me about coffee. I don't drink it. I don't caffeine. When I state my opinion, that is me chiming in on a topic. This is not me saying you suck at life if you do or feel differently. If I want to say that, I will. If I want to speak on you, I will.

That looks pretty much exactly like my nummular eczema, which sometimes is in one spot, sometimes is in an annoying amount of spots. I don't have/never had any dairy intolerance, but I'm way effected by heat and dry skin, so if he was bathing more frequently than normal, then that would track.
Not that it isn't ringworm, but. (I am not a doctor.)

When DS was an infant, he had a few eczema patches that looked like the pics. Pedi said to cut dairy from my diet (I was BF) and they cleared up and never returned.
I've only seen ringworm once IRL, so I can't say for sure....
Another anecdote - my DS1 (5) gets eczema that looks exactly like the spots in the second picture on his back and face. After baths he has to lotion up until he's slimy and slippery or they'll appear overnight. Eczema is a real PITA!
Total lurker here.... but my daughter has something very similar and her pedi said it is pityriesis rosea. Basically a weird rash they don't really know why it occurs and it can last a long time 6-8 weeks. It typically starts with one large spot and then multiple smaller red spots can appear. It is not really itchy for my daughter and the dr said that is common. So maybe that? Google it. The photos are really similar to what you posted. Of course you might want to see your pedi. The best news is it is not contagious!

Hmmm, this sounds more like it. Especially the "Herald Patch".
I'm glad we got a dermatologist appointment. I'll keep you all updated!
Yes please update after your appointment. I had never heard of this rash before and she was just diagnosed this week. It would be interesting to know of someone else who has it!

They have special lotrimin made specifically for ringworm now. I used it on both my cat and myself. Works great. Twice a day on each spot and wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands! It looks like ringworm in my opinion.

My eczema looks a lot like that and is often in ring form. Fragranced detergents and dryer sheets are my most common triggers. Did his clothes perhaps get washed with something different at grandma's house that is irritating him?

I didn't think if this! She has a special wardrobe for them to wear at her house. I'll ask her what she uses.
