Change is coming to our house. JA currently goes to a home daycare and has since he was an infant. We love her but she doesn't teach and they don't go outside. It is her and 5 littles (JA is the oldest right now). However, JA gets lots of attention and love which is what I wanted to be the focus until this age. I always said when he was 3 that I wanted to switch to a center so he would start getting preschool services; well, we got on a wait list thinking a spot wouldn't open until May but they called today with a spot! So I will turn in our notice to our beloved lady tomorrow. Sad but excited too.
Now my question...I have to take 2 change of clothes with labels to the center. (Home daycare had extra clothes and washed JA's clothes if he got dirty) So, how did you label your kid's extra clothes?
We also need a nap mat for his little cot at daycare, any suggestion on where to get that?
I'm no help but just wanted to say good luck with the change and I'm sure JA will have lots of fun with his new surrounding!
Thanks! I think he will love it. His class will go outside 2 times a day plus they have all the centers inside. They also do themes and parties which he will love. In March, right after he gets there, they celebrate Dr Seuss week which I think he will love. It is time for him to do these kinds of things. I can't believe how much our sweet J12 babies have grown!

That does sound like a really fun and awesome centre!! Our j12's definitely aren't babies any more!! I do however love the little people they are becoming!!
I just write her name on the tag with sharpie. I think Mabel's labels makes iron on labels though. We got our nap mat at a consignment store. Babies r us and buy buy baby also sell them. If you want to pay a lot they have them on etsy.

We use inch bug labels and I love them! They're washable and don't fade. They stick right on to the tag and you don't have to iron then on. Sharpie kept fading and it was hard to get his name on the tag.
Search"tot cot" for the napmat; I can't remember where we got ours but there's a huge selection.
Good luck with the change. Be prepared for rough drop offs in the beginning, but before you know it he will be so excited to get to school and see his friends!
Tommy has been in a center setting since he was a year. I love it and so does he. He has learned so much. JA will too! You will have a more difficult time than him with the change. As for clothing I just do sharpie on the collar. T just needs a blanket and sheet for his cot at school so I'm not sure where you get a mat.
J just started at a center - so far I've just used sharpie on her extra clothes, and put last name only for now. But I was planning to buy some of the Inch Bug labels. A friend of mine got me their orbit labels (silicone bands for sippy cups/bottles) when she was born and they're great!
She only needed a blanket and lovie for her cot, so I don't know about the nap mat.

Inch bug here too. I think you cannot resell clothes back to a lot of consignments with the sharpie labels (if you are into that sort of thing). He will do great - I'm sorry that the change snuck up on you. Our daycare let's them have a blankie to sleep with. But I'm not sure about a mat. I'd try the above suggestions. He'll do great!

We use inchbug labels for LOs clothes. As for the cots, the center has us bring sheets that they put over them. We take them home and wash them every week.
Thanks for the responses! We are excited about the change. He starts Monday, March 2, after a 2 weeks notice to our current daycare. He has asked every morning, "I going to school today?" He is excited.
