I'm filling in for turquoisequeen for a couple weeks while she's drunk on that newborn smell. If anybody asked to be added in the last check-in, I'm sorry, I missed you! Try again this week! 😂
This is a bi-weekly check in for the young toddlers (12-24 mo). Please feel free to jump right in and just let me know the birth month and year of your young toddler (then I won't have to update the ages every month)! We would love to have you join us!
@jp21 – there’s a 2-3 year old check in now! 😄
1. Accomplishments/fun stuff? 2. Challenges? 3. How are the adults? QOTW: What is your favorite thing about your current home? What's your least favorite? Oh and always feel free to include a pic of your LO(s) if you want!
Me: 32, PCOS Him: 30, 4.5% morph, TTC: 10/11/12 After 5 failed Clomid cycles and 3 failed Femara cycles with HCG triggers, IVF #1 w/ICSI April 2015 resulted in a BFP! Our little Newt was born January 2016!
1. Since the last check in we have two wavers . S has also started doing peekaboo and L has started making kissing sounds (not exactly correctly, but he's trying lol). I also swear I heard L say 'hi' and 'bye' today. I love this stage where they're starting to do 'baby tricks'
No challenges at the moment. Sleep has been a lot better the last week or so since the boys have mostly gotten over their latest cold.
QOTW my favorite thing about our current house is the living room, it's very open, has a large bay window, hardwood floors, and my favorite statement chairs. My least favorite thing is probably that it's a split level so it's a bit choppy in overall flow.
Good: most things! She's so much fun. She is saying more words. She's finally sitting herself up. You know, when she feels like it. The learning is non-stop. Today I was singing a song that involves silly faces and hand motions and she was SO FOCUSED trying to figure it out.
Not so great: Teething. Ugh. Her top molars are almost completely through and one of her bottom molars looks close. She is coping with it pretty well, considering, but there have been several overnight wake-ups and cranky times throughout the day. Yay for Tylenol!
Adults: I'm still on crutches, which means DH is primary parent. It's an adjustment for all of us. He's great with her, but I miss our normal routines. I can't wait till I can pick up my daughter again!
QOTW: I love the "bones" of the house, but the finishing and appliances are all very outdated. We've been making improvements here and there, but finances make it hard.
1. He is doing pretty well with the baby and several times a day asks to hold DD and is interested in watching her diaper change etc. He now likes to "dance" to certain songs when we ask and it's hilarious.
2. He's been throwing little tantrums more frequently and has been super attached to DH while he's been home. He gets upset if DH is holding DD and he wants to be held.
3. Tired, oh so tired. But doing better so far than we were at this stage with DS maybe bc everything isn't a new thing we haven't done before.
QOTW: love our really open kitchen and family room layout and huge island. Least favorite is that since we like to keep our cars in the garage, it's super crammed now that we also have a stroller, cozy coupe and some outdoor kid toys in there too. Oh and a freezer I got with DS to store extra breast milk. I can only imagine this gets worse as the toys will get bigger. We may need an outdoor shed or something.
Olivia has been saying more and more words now which makes communication easier. And danny is doing two word sentences which I'm pretty impressed with.
Olivia's need to be held 24/7. Driving me nuts! And Danny's tantrums. I'm over it.
We're good. DH seems to constantly be tired and it's getting on my nerves lately. But he does so much and helps a ton so I can't really complain.
Qotw: my favorite is their playroom. It's my only "Pinterest" room. My least favorite is our family room. Nothing in there but two couches that I really don't love. But the open space is nice for the kids right now.
1. Yesterday G said please and thank you with words instead of just signing!! I hope his explosion of words is just around the corner.
2. None at the moment.
3. DH is still working a ton and leaves tomorrow to go out of state for a week. I'm super busy with work these days and am desperately waiting for spring break (two weeks away). Other than that, we're good.
QOTW - I like that our living room is very open and large. I hate our kitchen. It's like an apartment sized kitchen, no storage, no countertop space. My next kitchen will be huge.

L is 15.5 months and is a crazy monkey and climbs on everything. He is a little sponge right now and copies everything we do and tries to repeat everything. It's really cool to see the new things he learns each day.
Challenges- can't think of any right now. He's still getting a few bottles a day because he doesn't drink enough milk out of a cup.
Adults- we are good. Tired. Work has been killing us both.
QOTW: I don't really like our house. We need more space!
1. He turned around at a diner and roared at the people. Whine us and said he was "t-Rex" Now he stomps around saying he's a trex and calling people different dinosaurs. 2. The usual, he has started temper tantrums especially regarding my dad. It's super annoying BC my dad has to hide so he doesn't cause problems when we have to go somewhere. He caught sight of my dad at the library today and was screaming so much I had to send him home with my dad to get him to stop.
3. Fucking exhausted Q: light, there are many skylights so it never feels dark & claustrophobic. Least favorite is the tile it's everywhere except formal living room and dining. It's so hard to clean and freezing cold.

1. Accomplishments/fun stuff? Nodding yes and seems to be understanding just about any (reasonably straightforward) request or statement put to her. Climbing more and more. Going down the slide by herself! Can say "cheese" now, hehehehe.
2. Challenges? Canine. Teeth. Are awful. Also, MH has to clean up his potty mouth (see: receptive language notes above).
3. How are the adults? Good! I just booked a trip for me and WF down to my parents' for Easter. She'll be getting her own seat for the first time. Should be interesting, solo.
QOTW: We're in an east-facing unit on a high floor, so the light is great. Least favorite is our appliances. (We're in a rental, so no say in these.) Something stupid is always going wrong with them. They're just shoddy. Thanks, GE!
Accomplishments: Wow, she's a fast learner! Someone has flipped a switch in this kid's brain the past few weeks, because suddenly she's catching on to everything. It is amazing to watch!
Challenges: Not much at the moment. She just got over her 4th ear infection, so we are off to see a pediatric ENT about that on Monday. Other than the occasional bad sleep night, she's good.
Adults: We are in the process of moving. The stress of selling our old place and finding something new is wearing on me. Lots of work to be done in our old place, and most of it is falling onto my shoulders, so the past week or so has been rough.
QOTW:. This one is timely for me! I love my super short commute to work and our master bathroom, which we remodeled a few years ago. I don't like the lack of a yard and the cramped indoor space. We're currently in a small townhome-style condo, and we're looking for a single family home.
DH and I are both 38 TTC since Feb 2013 Diagnoses: PCOS ("lean"/non-IR), borderline hypothyroid, hyperprolactinoma 6 TI/IUI cycles in 2014 (2 Clomid, 4 Femara) - 1 cancelled, 5 BFN IVF #1: March 2015 - 22R/12F. 7 frosties FET #1: May 2015

M will be 15 months this week.
She learned the phrase "owie" recently which has led to some cute situations. I hurt my wrist and whenever I say "ow" she comes over and kisses my wrist brace.
My biggest challenge is trying to care for her without over using my right wrist. She is in a clingy mama phase too so it is hard.
I am super busy and stressed with school/work. Fellowship and grant applications to write, teaching an extra class and not being able to type without pain- not a good combination.
QOTW: love the location and how much more space we have compared to our old place. Hate that our landlord has not taken care of it well and there are lots of things that need to be maintained better.

Nearly 16 months
Fun Stuff: I get unsolicited hugs and kisses now. She started climbing up my legs the other day and last night she did a somersault! I was like, wha?! She's talking up a storm, her new favorite word is apple. She also says "pop" during pop goes the weasel. She tried to tell me "I have eyes" but, it was more like I've eyes. She's rocking swim class she can back float, swim underwater for 5 seconds and she's getting good at kicking.
Challenges: There seems to be one or two nights a week she wakes up and just cannot get herself back to sleep. Those nights are really hard.
Adults: Like firstbbq, we're stressed over trying to move as well. MH is trying to do some repairs and get finishing touches for us to list in April. I wind up dealing with all the regular chores and the kid. We're pretty exhausted at the moment.
QOTW: There isn't really much I'll miss. MH bought the townhouse when he was single and it's been a great starter home, but we've outgrown it. I'm pretty stoked to be involved in choosing a house and making it OUR home.

It's been a while since I checked in. Love reading all the updates.
Kenzie - that underwater swimming is amazing!
DS is good - so sweet and funny. I love seeing his sense of humor emerge. He's always trying to get our dog to chase him, and he squeals with delight when she does (as in looks his way or stands up, she's not really a chaser).
He still throws food on the floor, ready for that stage to be done.
DH and I were sick all weekend, no fun with a toddler. Luckily he played well by himself for the most part.
Q: I love our neighborhood, the neighbors, sidewalks, quiet streets, parks nearby. Our upstairs is a converted attic so the stairs are insanely steep. And it gets super hot in the summer. Navigating laundry baskets from bedrooms to basement and back are treacherous.

Can I jump in? DD is a N15 baby. Let's see if I can remember the check in items:
1) DD started D.C. Last week which has been a transition since before was home with a nanny. I think she is doing ok with the social art, but hates the separation when I leave. Breaks my heart. She has started identifying body parts which is cute. Because she is shifting to 1 nap, I had to drop our weekly swim class in the middle of the day and will start a weekend one here in a few weeks. She LOVES water and swimming, but again, fits whenever I would hand her to the instructor to swim back to me.
2) challenges: the separation anxiety!!!!3) parents are doing ok
GTKY: my favorite part is the balcony with a great ocean view. What I don't like about our house is no logical place for a doggy door so we have to leave the back door propped open for our dog. He is pretty intimidating but it still makes me uneasy leaving our house open.

**siggy warning**
TTC #1 starting July 2013, RE last 2014 First Angel baby lost July 11, 2014 IUI #1 with injections successful: EDD 11/24/15 Rainbow baby DD born 11/14/15 TTC#2 October 2016 Second Angel baby lost Jan 5, 2017
Good: I second whoever said it's like a switch flipped with the learning. She says/does/imitates something different every day. When she wants to nurse she reliably puts two words together ("mama, na na?" no idea why she calls BF na na but she loves being able to ask for it). Also saying ball and truck this week. Lots of imitating play. Following some simple commands.
Challenges: well, she's a toddler and we have the tantrums. I have no doubt that's only going to get more fun.
Adults: taking a week vacation (without E, sob!) this Friday. It'll be good for us though.
QOTW: well, I think we're in our forever home. Built in the 1940s, renovated, but with a lot of the original charm. My favorite part is the master bed/bath. MH's is the finished basement with man cave/bar and theater room. I'd like to do a better outdoor living area. Next project.
MellyKnu can you add me? Superman bday is feb '16.
1. He's trying to take steps!! He only does it for H, but dammit, he's trying to walk.
2. God save me from the stubbornness of this child. I say no, he hears yes. I remove him from harm, he races back while fussing at me. Everyday is an exercise is willpower not to lose my shit.
3. I'm solo parenting all week as H has a show in. It's hell.
QOTW: I'm mostly not a huge fan of our home. It's great on size and the yard is fantastic, but it's old and needs more updates than we can afford. It's not the best house to have a young child in.
