Dh and I had fun tonight. So nice to get out without kids. A rare treat, indeed! My parents watched the kids which they loved. They haven't watched them since November. 😊
How's your Mom doing these days?
So good! Infection free, doing Phys Therapy for her back. She can drive short trips and walk around without her walker. She's hoping to be back to watching the kids by June 😊
DS was a deranged psychopath at swimming then pissed on the floor of the locker room. Came home and had an email from the realtor that there is a leak in the basement. I just want to cry
That sounds like such an exhausting morning. Take the kiddo to a pub, order some food, have a beer with lunch! Or yell into a pillow!
Oh God dining alone with that nut case sounds like hell! I got starbux and watching project runway. I did discover our mcDs has a play place so I may take him out tomorrow for brunch, wish me luck!

That's great! I'm sure she can't wait to be with the kids again.
DH just left to take DD to my parents house. We have a wedding tonight but my parents asked to keep her all weekend. I just got back in bed to read then going to get a manicure in a bit before getting ready for wedding. We don't have to go get her until dinner tomorrow and my mom is cooking for all of us before we take her home :-) much excite

I noticed ds has bloody toes this morning. His rain boots and shoes must be too small. We were going to do a tourist day downtown today with the kids. Guess we're going shoe shopping instead at the outlet mall. Meh.
Went to swim lessons this morning then got lunch. DD is now sleeping so I'm crashed on the couch watching catfish and eating peanut m&ms. It's a shareable size and I'm not sharing. I should also be out for a walk on this gorgeous day but I'm not. Will try later.

this reminds me that MIL bought DD a new pair of shoes the other day but they were a size 5 and didn't fit so DD was sad. DD wears a 9, just a tad off.

Why wouldn't she check the size with you first? So odd

Do you have a dollar store close? Mine sells cheap rain boots

My MIL buys stuff and doesn't ask about size. She sent really cute light up shoes that were too small. We wanted to exchange them and she said we could just give them to BIL since he had just had a girl. I just returned them for store credit.

We do have a dollar store, never seen shoes or boots there, though. He gets a lot of wear from them, it rains a lot here, lol. We've been getting him the crocs rain boots. They're lightweight and wide enough for his feet. Mil gave the kids money for xmas, so these purchases will be made with that 😊

I guess I should probably invest in decent rain boots in the future. Right now I get high quality snow boots. I never thought I'd say it but I love Crocs

I love the crocs rainboots! They're way lighter than other rubber rainboots. My kid constantly tripped in the heavy ones, but crocs are perfect for him. Unless you're going the mountains and doing snow activities, I don't find much need for snow boots. In fact, ds has never had snow boots. If I were to get him some, they would be the cheapest ones I could find.

We have a snowsuit that's way too big!
This is my grandma. Except she buys everything second hand or on clearance so I can't return. I currently have a 5t puffy winter coat. DD1 still fit in her 24 month one from last winter this year.

She does it all the time. She won't ask then gets upset when things don't fit. Also if she does buy something it usually stays at her house. DD basically has her own room there. But then only wears things a few times before they don't fit since they're always too busy to see her and nothing is allowed to come home to our place. My in laws make no sense.

What is up with whooping cough going around (and vaccinated kids getting it)? I think I saw at least one other person mention it in another thread here. I got notified weds afternoon that there's at least one confirmed case at dd's daycare (a child who was fully vaccinated) so we were all advised to check with Pedi. Some staff members' doc's put them on antibiotics just in case; I think some of the kids too. Dd was actually less exposed than the other kids because we were away all last week so was only together with the diagnosed child Monday and a couple hours weds morning, but ... Then she had a bit of a fever Thursday and I had to pick her up early. She's starting to have cold symptoms and just a low fever on and off. We took her to pedi yesterday and they tested (and also said her ears throat and lungs all look/sound good but her lymph nodes are swollen so she's fighting something); we should hear tomorrow or Monday. Ugh. On top of everything else that is going on.
Anyway, how widespread are these whooping cough outbreaks?

springbeduk you can still get whooping cough even if vaccinated. I think the vax helps lesser the impact if you do get it. My sister had it as a kid even though she was fully vaxxed
After a terrible morning DS has been a delight this afternoon. We spent about 2 hours in his bedroom playing with stickers, reading stories and building magnatiles.
