Next week is Spring Break. I have been a slacker about scheduling. I know the week will include the zoo, sleepovers, some meals out and a trip to the library. I'm working half days so am free after 11am each day (latest, I may start work at 5:30 a couple days). We go to family camp for the second weekend.
Ideas for things to do with an almost 13 year old, 9 year old and 5 year old? We can stay out late, DH is out of town and it will help me if they sleep past 6:30.
I am looking at private bike riding lessons for DD, who at 9 cannot ride, but has to learn because this year for summer vaca we rented a house in Seaside and will be biking everywhere - parking isn't great, and we are 5 blocks from the town center.
We have a movie theater here that does full dinners with the movie. Is there a movie they could all agree on for something like that?
What about getting supplies for some sort of project/craft? You could all make tied fleece blankets and do a picnic at home with them after. They're super easy to make and picking out the fleece would be an adventure unto itself.
sunshineandbabytoes - yes, we love it! Last year we were further up 30A but spent some time in Seaside. This trip is great motivation to get the younger two up on two wheels.
This feels so early for Spring Break! Ours isn't until April.
I second crafts - craft projects are a lot of fun. What about a hike? Do you have a State Park nearby? Maybe if there's something fun like a waterfall to hike to, that's a way to kill an afternoon.
Another thing that might be fun is a "cooking class" where the kids help you pick a menu or things to make and you divide tasks and dishes by age and ability. Then "supervise."
Indoor water park, trampoline park, movie, museum, parks, plant in the garden, volunteer at the Humane Society dog walking and cat petting, take a cooking class, paint your own pottery.
I was thinking of doing a treasure hunt around the yard with my munchkin, but instead, inspired by his antics last weekend with his new TMNT shell, we're going to make mutagen, then have a mutagen hunt, and might make "smoke bombs" using eggs shells and purple colored baby powder. It'd be even more fun with 3 kids, if they all share an interest.
We'll probably also make sugar cookies, they're always a hit.
How about a couple of chill days 2chatter,? You guys are always so busy would the kids be okay with just a couple lounge around the house and do nothing days.
Fort building, movie marathons, a park a day tour, trampoline park.
Trampoline park Roller skating Indoor pool or water park Arcade Movies
My girls are MUCH better behaved if we leave the house daily. So despite my inclination to be a homebody, we generally find something to do most days. Could you let each kid pick an activity and that only leaves you a couple of days to fill the rest?

I'm sending my kid to gymnastics camp. Let them entertain her!
But really, pool, science museum, library (ours will sometimes have extra events around school holidays), hiking/nature walks, movie nights (at home or out)

Ours is the week before Easter.
We have an extra long spring break because we only used 1 snow day so we are planning an overnight trip to an indoor water park. I'm taking a few days off to coincide with her break to make that happen.

This makes me want to go rent bikes there this weekend. And eat an unhealthy grilled cheese.

I live in the epicenter of Spring Break... so I am not excited. Should be tame this year. Kids are still little so daycare is all week and no time off. Will avoid the beach at all cost for a month.
Our Spring Break is SO early. April and May will seem super long.
The kids will be here chilling (hopefully) each morning while I work (I may take DS to school).
Last week our downstairs was a giant fort - I dismantled it and moved all the chairs back before DH came home but it was epic. Recreating that over Spring Break would be super fun. I could work in one of the "rooms" for part of the day, too. They had a movie theater, a reading room and a snack chamber, plus other rooms.
Cooking would be fun. Maybe we can bake a starch free cake too.
Part of the reason we are going back to Seaside is DD could eat there - the BBQ place has a starch free sauce, peel and eat shrimp and plain grilled fish and steamed veggies, or fish over salads, were easy to come by. Super excited for a week of eating out that isn't overly painful for DD.

I feel your pain. I live next to the big mouse. ;-)
Our plans for spring break include the trampoline park and movies. Ours is later so I hope that new Beauty and Beast is out. We will hopefully hike and go to the park.

Considering taking the train to the Dallas Zoo (free because membership) to avoid rush hour - breakfast for dinner sounds so good. Need to see if there's a BuzzBrews or OPH on the train route - would be fun!
I am also halfway considering one night at GWL if I can score a good deal last minute. DD would run them around doing MagiQuest while I knock out work. They would DIE of excitement. But I think cost might end up being too high if most schools locally have SB now. Off to investigate....
