For some reason in this pregnancy I've just adopted the mind set of F-it and I'm eating everything and anything. I come home and eat through my daughters goldfish....then move on to chocolate chips....and that is only the beginning of it. I'm hungry, but that is no excuse to eat like it's going out of style. I'm continuing to workout 4-5 days a week, but that only balances out so much.
What has kept you in track with healthy eating? What are your go to snacks to keep you out of the junk drawer??

Um food is hard for me. I love food and I miss food but food makes me feel sick and I don't get sick. But I love fruit and keep apples with me at all times and applesauce in my desk because I like those little pouches

mambo applesauce pouches have been my go-to. I have them everywhere for emergencies. Literally nothing tastes good to me, so I've been eating way less. In my previous pregnancies I ate constantly because that kept me from feeling sick. I'd portion things out in ziplock bags to keep from overeating. I also have diabetes so I can't really pig out and keep my blood sugar under control, so that was extra motivation for me.

I'm with @wicky on this one. Keep the junk out of the house if you can. Just don't buy it. Then you can't eat it. I have been thinking I'm snacking way too much, too. I had to tell myself "no" a couple of times at the grocery store this week. Literally, I said "no" -- out loud -- to a bag of cheddar & sour cream chips. Hopefully no one heard me. 😳 LOL
My favorite healthy snack is peanutbutter and apples. Otherwise, I like to snack on something easy like grapes or cheese and crackers.
I hear ya, alleycat39. It's hard. To the chips and sweets, I'm *trying* to say
I hate the constant snacking because I never know what I want to eat. I did buy some veggies and have been having some with some Ranch dressing. Almonds are a good snack. Yogurt, hard boiled eggs, granola bars.
But I do have a terrible sweet tooth. Thankfully, in early pregnancy, the "sweets" don't really appeal to me as much as I know they don't keep me full.
Luckily fruit is one of my cravings but nothing else really sounds good, except for junk of course. I won't divulge how many kit kats I've eaten this week.
The best way to look at it is the less weight you gain during pregnancy the less you have to lose afterwards. Ask your OB exactly how much they want you to gain for a healthy pregnancy and try to stay within that range (I know it's hard). Unless you are nursing, you only need an extra 300 calories per day for the baby. That's equivalent to an avocado. I think when we all get further along and into the 2nd trimester it will be much easier to manage what we are eating bc the MS will be gone.
It's also important to note, some women, when BF hold weight for their milk supply while others lose weight. I always hold onto 10 lbs when I'm BF. Once the baby starts eating solids regularly I drop that 10 lbs in 2 weeks. It's happened with my last 2 pregnancies (I wasn't successfully able to BF my first bc I wasn't educated enough on it and didn't know what was normal). Anyways, the point to this is to say, once you are PP and you are holding on to some weight don't be discouraged. It could just be your body's way of making sure it can make enough milk.
I've been trying to make good for me food as easy as possible to access. I've been lucky with MS but I think that's mostly because I eat constantly, which is not great. So I've been splurging on precut fruits and veggies at the store, cut up apples are my jam! If they're cut and clean and in he fridge I'm way more likely to grab them for a snack, so even though it's more $, I figure it's worth it. Also, cheerios...I get the multigrain ones and they have less sugar but are a touch sweet and I have them dry or with almond milk...they also seem to help heartburn when I have them with almond milk, a bonus! And veggies (even with a little dip I figure they are at least nutritionally redeeming). I'm not at all small to begin with so I'm really scared about the weight gain, but my nurse practitioner earlier this week said, if you eat when you're hungry and go on some walks, don't worry too much, eat good for you food as much as you can, but if you need carbs, eat carbs. (I love her.)

So small meals are my favorite. Oatmeal with fruit, walnuts, and maple syrup. Stir fry with veggies. Fruit and more veggies for snacks. And a bar (Luna, Lara).
Having things ready usually helps a lot. I may try to make smoothies ahead of time.
I try to aim for getting in lots of protein. That helps me feel fuller. I also try to eat things that take a little bit of time to eat, like an apple, so I don't gorge too fast and then end up eating too much. Maybe also try going for a healthy snack first, then letting yourself have something that is not as nutritious.
I am still having strong meat aversions so I have been living off of baked potatoes and homemade Mac n cheese. I can't stomach fruit and veggies either. I'm hoping 2nd tri will be better.
Similar to last time, I'm super adverse to lettuce. I choke down my salad every lunch to make sure I am getting some veggies, but having a hard time there. I am also eating a lot of carbs, but we don't have a lot of junk food in the house, and I'm a vegetarian, so I'm doing my best. I don't want to gain a ton, but also know it will come off. I gained about 35 last time (which included an almost 10lb baby) and it came off pretty easily with clean eating, but not restricting calories. I keep telling myself that what I eat is feeding baby, so trying to lay off the junk as much as MS will allow. Toast is my savior.
