I wanted to toss this up specifically to pick the brains of PCOSers and/or those with oily skin, so that's my lead-off question, but this is a come-one-come-all TELL US ABOUT YOUR SKIN CARE AND BEAUTIFIED-FACE STUFF thread.  


So, to lead off, tell me all about your face makeup (i.e. foundation or similar).  Especially if you have oilier skin, but everyone tell me, whatever your skin type is.  I need ideas.

Great timing, bluefairy5, I was getting ready to ask something similar.

Ever since N stopped nursing, about a month and a half ago, my PCOS symptoms have come roaring back, even though I'm still pumping.

My face and hair are super oily and I've been breaking out so much. To wash, I use a Dove sensitive bar once a day and Cetaphil daily facial cleanser once a day. I wear no makeup.

Need recommendations for adult acne treatments!

I have the same foundation as MellyKnu except I have the version for dry skin since my skin tends to be parched except in my hormonal acne chin zone.

I have had good luck with origins moisturizers but my recommendation likely wouldn't work for really oily skin. I use a basic apricot scrub once a week, the Neutrogena grapefruit acne wash on just my acne area, and the goats milk soap I got from the gift exchange on the rest of my face.

I used to have "combination skin" with oily nose/forehead and dry cheeks but I don't know anymore what I am as my postpartum skin is all over the place.

That said, another vote for Tarte foundation. I don't buy the powder, I buy the "12-hour full coverage" stuff in the tube. On days when I want a full coverage look I use it straight but on more casual days I mix it with a drop or 2 of Josie Maran argan oil for a more BB-cream type moisturizing effect. It is truly the best foundation I have ever used, and I love that they have so many tones to choose from so you can get a good match.

As for actual skincare I suck and I need to find some products and a routine. I was always super casual about skincare - Neutrogena face wash, inexpensive moisturizer with some SPF, stay out of the sun. But now that I'm 35 I feel like I need to step it up a bit so I'll be watching this thread too

I use Clinique make up and use Burt bee's for face cleaning And make removal. Prior to ttc I saw a dermatologist and I was using duac in the morning and epiduo at night. It worked pretty well.

I like Bare Minerals makeup - it's pretty natural. I use the tinted moisturizer instead of a true foundation because I don't like the way a heavy foundation feels.

Anyone else have ketosis pilarious (chicken skin) on their face? I can't seem to find anything that helps with it. I'd love recommendations.

I use Dr. Hauschka face cleansing milk and face moisturizer. I love Tarte makeup...all of it.

So it seems like the takeaway here is that I should try Tarte. I have the lovely sort of oily skin that *also* manages to get flaky, so powders have always been ~unfortunate~ for me. Sigh. I've been trying to remedy this by gently exfoliating with a washcloth each night, and it seems to help... when I remember to do it!

I am a Dove bar gal for face wash, and pretty simple on the moisturizers. My MIL stopped by the Clarins counter recently and brought me back a bunch of samples. I *love* their stuff, but I just can't get beyond the added fragrance. Blech, no thanks.

Have you ever tried the Clarisonic? I forgot to mention I use this maybe every other week (or when I remember). It's amaze.

I have, and my skin and it are NOT friends  My MIL got me one quite a few years ago and it was bad news bears for the few weeks that I tried to will my skin into agreeing with it.

I have combination skin. I started using Obagi Nu-derm foaming facial cleaner and the luxe hydrate moisturizer because my mom won it from a dermatologist's office raffle. I really like it. I've been using it for about 5 months and my skin has never been clearer. I just ran out of the moisturizer and about fell over when I saw the price. So, I guess I need to find something else. 😫

I tend to have dry/sensitive skin. I use Eminence Organics, the age corrective line (they have several others) and am really happy with it. My skin looks visibly younger/clearer since I started. I don't use foundation but I do use Eminence loose tinted mineral powder with SPF and will set it with their hydrating mist. They have a gentle exfoliating powder I'll mix in with my face wash occasionally.
