So not ready to go back to work today. It's amazing how much more quickly a vacation week goes. Only 20 more times driving 190+ miles a day before I have another vacation week then transfer.
I was hoping J would sleep in a little today since we were up screaming for 2 hours with gas pains, but no such luck. It's just as well, since I need to prep dinner and pack lunch for today.

Late day at work today but I brought homemade cookies so I'm feeling less annoyed about it;) I might even eat one for breakfast. Yes, that sounds like an excellent adult decision.
Kristykristyleelee, I'm glad you guys have at least a short-term plan worked out. I hope everything goes as well as possible with finishing MIL's surgery and her recover, and that you guys are all feeling better physically and mentally soon!
I think DS' two year molars are starting to come in, he was non-stop drooling, chewing on his fingers, and trying to bite H and I (which he hadn't been for a long time) all weekend. Plus, he was crabby, which made H and I crabby. So I'm actually not too upset about being back at work today, either.
Oh Kristykristyleelee I'm sorry things are going so tough right now. Good luck to you guys.
We are buried under snow again and super cold (especially for March) temps forecast all week. Those 2 days of spring were glorious!
H is working later tonight and tomorrow, but it means he gets Friday off and he also has Wednesday off for appointments with us in the city so it works out pretty good!
And the cute note of the day, L figured out how to say "happy" this weekend but can't get "birthday" out yet, so DS says birthday for her. It the cutest little chant between the two of them and they said it to H a lot yesterday!

Happy Monday y'all!
We ended up having a nice, relaxing weekend. Our trip to the brewery with friends was a rousing success. BH had more dog friends than he knew what to do with, and LBB had a great time with his friend. The brewery donated some merchandise for LBB's baseball fundraiser and our friends talked is into trying out a cookie store around the corner from the brewery.
Today should be mellow at work and then baseball this afternoon. So far March is off to a pretty good start.
Also trying to wean DD gradually over the next month. Yesterday was pretty successful. I'm feeling positive about that and happy she is being so adaptive.
tiffbot we are also experiencing heavy winter weather and more and more snow. This has really been an epic year for snow in BC! Im looking forward to spring though

He spent 20 minutes crying uncontrollably and refusing to let us near him until H suggested a bath and he finally calmed down at that idea.
IME, you handle it differently with different kids. LBB needed touch. So with him, I would sit and hold him until it passed. Your guy sounds more similar to BH. When he's upset, he does NOT want to be held. So I let him be.
I think it's really important to verbalize what's going on, to help build their emotional vocabulary, so I'll say something like "I know you're really frustrated/sad/*insert appropriate emotion* right now. I can see that you don't want anyone to be near you. But I will be right here when you need a hug."
So just as I was walking into a restaurant to have a nice, kid-free lunch with H, day care called. DS is the latest victim of the stomach bug - he had a few runny diapers and puked all over apparently. So I've spent the last hour and a half desperately re-arranging all our logistics we had worked out for today, especially since H and I have our consult this afternoon. Thank goodness my mom is so close and we have a strong support system, because I have no clue what we would do without them.
I'm trying to get a bit of work done at home now that DS is napping, praying that it's a quick passing bug, and eating chocolate because I feel bad for my baby. So much for that resolve to start the week healthy :/
Sigh...It was a whirlwind weekend with DH coming home. It was so cute to see the kids when they saw him on Sunday morning. He left again early this morning, so it's going to be a LONG week until he gets home late Sunday.
This morning was nuts at work, but it was a nice distraction.

Sorry so many of you are having rough starts to the week. Hope it gets better soon.
I'm home!! We arrived yesterday afternoon and my mom surprised us at the airport. The girls ran up to me and DD1 shoved flowers in my face and I cried my eyes out. Haha. I missed them so much and am so glad to be home. That said, our trip was incredible and going without the kids was a good decision.
Sitting here at a hotel with more free time than I know what to do with. I did go to the gym, going to have a phone date with one of my friends later, and going to wander down and see what the free food is at the hotel and if anyone wants to venture somewhere else. I hope things liven up around here when our conference officially starts tomorrow.
Hope it's a quick bug jillywilly. How did your consult go?
Thanks! He's kept water and crackers down since we got him and seemed to be perking up through the afternoon, so fingers crossed. The consult went pretty well, pretty much what I expected. We set up some testing appointments and should be transferring in April or May - ahhh!
