I'm glad DH did an ultrasound last night. The midwife barely found the heartbeat and she couldn't even tell me how fast it was beating. I would have been a huge mess.

caybeh I'm not telling DH but laundry location might play a big part in why I nix houses from our lists! I just find other flaws I dislike too and say that's the reason instead.
Hey laundry location sounds like a valid thing to dislike in a house to me!
I'm dying to move my laundry room upstairs. Right now it's in a tiny room between the kitchen and garage. I feel like my whole first floor is a disaster whenever I do laundry because baskets are everywhere. We also don't have any good place for shoes, purses, backpacks, etc. my goal is to move our laundry to our bedroom closet, make the door into the hallway and seal it off from our room. Then, id make this little sitting area we have into a huge closet. We don't use the sitting area and it's kind of an awkward space.
I'm dying to get estimates on the cost of all this so I can start saving! It would be so much easier for our family to have their own cubby/place to hang coats and bags. I have a little area in the front foyer, but it always looks cluttered.
mambo that's great to hear! Young people tend to bounce back quickly. Did they figure out what caused it? Was it a bleed or an ischemic stroke? Usually with young people it's a deformity in a vessel, a bleeding disorder like factor v or a hole in the heart that will cause a stroke. I'm an ICU/stroke nurse so feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Deformity in the vessel, ischemic stroke. He will be going to rehab for a couple of weeks so that will be helpful.

wells2010 that sounds wonderful! We built our house last fall. I really wanted a separate entrance for us and our own coat closet. I love having a spot for our stuff while the front entry is clear for guests. I love my laundry room upstairs. It isn't huge, but I have a little sewing table in there too so I can sew. It also has a window that I love. Also, so much easier to have the laundry on the same floor as the bedrooms.
Good luck with all your plans! They sound great and hopefully they all happen for you!!
wells2010 your plans sound great. I constantly go back and forth if we should move or just fix up this house. We live in a nice town, but in a tiny house...but on a good size lot, so there are options. But then we get so stymied with options we just do nothing, ha!

We leave for vacation tomorrow morning. I've packed like maybe 5 articles of clothing.
I don't wanna pack. Lame.
Dd and I leave Sunday morning to see my bff and her kids and I've packed nothing. I've been on the road for work all week so I'm exhausted. I'm sure tomorrow will be full of packing and cleaning...silver lining, we have a new cleaning lady starting next week so I need to pick up for that but I'll come home to a clean house and can't wait!!

On the laundry front...when we moved into this house last summer I LOVED having our laundry in the basement...now I can barely make it down there with a basket of laundry without having an asthma attack. Our house is an old Victorian and full of fricking stair cases.

Sorry to jump into the randoms. But I have a question/need all of your advice. My best highschool friend is getting married 2 weeks after my EDD. She asked me to be a bridesmaid literally a week after I took the test, so I didn't tell her and said yes. It is a local wedding. Am I crazy to consider it? My DS was late, so I could only be a week PP during the wedding. My thoughts are worst case scenario I am there for pictures/the ceremony and then leave. My mom can bring the baby so I can nurse. OR should I fess up and tell my friend I can't do it.
Stupid timing. I missed my BFF's wedding two years ago that I was also in b/c I was a month PP and would have to fly.

I would tell her you can't be in it. There are too many what ifs.

I'd just talk to her ASAP and tell her what's up. I had a very pregnant bridesmaid that was having some complications close to my wedding. I knew there was a chance she wouldn't be able to come last minute and I was fine with that, but I'm pretty mellow and ok with last minute changes. We just had a plan B for how people would walk the aisle and it was NBD. Some people might really stress with uncertainty though. So I'd give her the opportunity to weigh in sooner rather than later.

Went to er last night because my midwife office told me to. I have swine flu 😷. Have to fill and pick up my prescriptions they gave me today. I feel better after the iv fluids and zofran though so there's a plus.

Thanks everyone! I think I should just talk to her. Was going to wait until a few more weeks (I'm 11W 2D), but she sent an email about going to look at dresses. I just emailed back and said I had some questions so we can talk this weekend. I'll just tell her...

So I originally was only going to get genetic testing for cystic fibrosis. After three previous pregnancies I still haven't done that. They told me I would have to pay more just to be tested for CF than to have the full panel. So I opted for the full panel so we will know the sex of the baby in 8-10 days. That's exciting because I can start planning the nursery colors and making the crib bedding. I also want have my mom crochet a newborn outfit for the newborn photos.

I would love love love a mudroom area with laundry and storage/locker-ish space for coats and bags. Something along these lines would be amazing. We don't have room for it now but maybe one day.

RajahMD - Have fun on vaca! Flick - Hope you're feeling better soon. That sounds rough. laurenash323 - I'm so jealous. I would love to have a cleaning lady come. I keep the house picked up pretty well but it would be nice to have someone help with cleaning floors & dusting & the stuff that I hate to do.
So a couple of weeks ago someone asked about maternity jeans. I was all "oh last time I didn't buy any, I just used the Belly Band on my normal jeans, and then wore dresses".
Yesterday my first maternity Stitch Fix arrived, including some maternity jeans. OMIGOD. I had no idea what I was missing. I will wear these all the time!
Only downside is they are over-belly and my belly is not quite big enough to hold them up properly. But it's getting there!

salmon2017 When I tried on maternity jeans for the first time I was like "why don't we wear these ALL the time?!" SO comfy.
I actually got a maternity Fix a couple weeks ago and ended up keeping a 3-pack of maternity tank tops (they're super stretchy and long). I'm wearing one for the first time today and noticed there's a hole by one of the straps I just emailed them about it and hope they make it right. I've been thinking of requesting another for in a couple weeks, maybe when I'm around 16w. What other kind of stuff did they send for you?
I want a mudroom so bad saltandvinegar that is gorgeous. Our most used entry is from the deck right into the kitchen, so every piece of dirt, puppy grime, etc., comes right into the kitchen. Drives me crazy!
salmon2017 and CK1 I did stitchfix awhile back but stopped bc they annoyingly started constantly sending me wrong sizes even after I told a bunch of times, so it was way too expensive since I never kept whole box (sometimes sent all back!) but...I was curious about the maternity options. Maybe I'll try one just to see...maybe it will reset my sizes somehow so they send the right stuff!

wannabmama, CK1 I did stitch fix yeeears ago when they first started, but stopped because I wasn't keeping enough pieces to make it worth my while. I thought I would give them another shot for maternity stuff. I have trouble finding maternity clothes that I think are cute - not floral and flowy. My style is usually pretty classic and fitted (I aim for Audrey Hepburn-esque in my head, and if I get 10% of the way there, I would be ecstatic).
I would say the fix was decent (although I only kept the jeans). They sent a necklace, and I don't really want accessories so I made sure to mention that for next time. There was an awesome dress, but the pattern was too wild for work so I asked for it again in a solid colour. There was a polkadot top which was cute but in the $60 range which seemed a bit steep for something that is a glorified tshirt (I got a similar one on zulily for $15). And there was a flowy pink cardigan that was totally not up my alley. I am hoping the stylist will hear my feedback and improve. I am also thinking about setting up a pinterest page to share with them.

Can we post pictures of our Stitch Fixes? Not wearing them, but I'm curious what everyone gets. I have a box coming on the 18th and I am so exited for it.
I opted for Stitch Fix this month because it is so hard to get out clothes shopping with 2 little kids. I either have to do it by myself or online. And my choices are fairly limited here and I don't want to drive all over the place.

Maternity pants/leggings are, for sure, a game-changer. I've been uncomfortable in regular leggings for a few days now. This morning I put on some maternity leggings from last pregnancy. O. M. G. So much more comfortable. I guess I'm wearing maternity bottoms now. LOL

+1 for living maternity jeans. I tried all of mine on to make sure they still fit. I'm having to use my belly band for my regular jeans now. I forgot how comfy they are!
