I went in at 37 weeks for a follow up growth scan. I had been measuring small but didn't think much of it since I did with DD1 and I just carried small. She was fine.
The tech notes the baby is now in the 10th percentile. She was in the 18th the previous scan. I meet with the midwife and she says I need to be induced that night. We had not washed anything. We frantically cleaned and dropped off DD1 with my friend.
We headed in about 10 pm. I had two 12 hour rounds of cervadil and on the third I started contracting. (We got there Thursday night and Sat morning they started pit.) Lots of painful contractions but nothing consistent. Nurse didn't want to break my water because I was still a 1 cm dilated and not really in labor.
My cervix checks were so painful. Cervix was very high with baby's head very low. Midwife came to break my water and went to review my chart.
She said baby was doing great and my body wasn't responding, so we should try again on Thursday. I bawled. My parents just arrived from a 800 mile drive.
The next Thursday went great! Pitocin started at 10 am. Water broken at 2 pm but still at a 1 cm. Painful but manageable contractions. 4 cm at 4:30 pm and got my epi. Felt lots of pressure around 7 pm. The doctor was nearby because my previous labor I went from 3 to 10 cm in an hour. DD2 was born at 7:05 in 3 pushes. My mom got to be there!
Delivered at 38 weeks. 5 lbs 7 oz. IUGR for unknown reasons.
I didn't know you could just end an induction and do it another day after you had already started the process! I'm sorry they took you on that emotional roller coaster, and after so long too :/ but congrats! I'm glad that everything went smoothly the second time! Hope you had a smooth recovery!!

I didn't either! I had a coworker that also had a failed induction too, I learned afterward.
My midwife said afterward maybe the other one should have just waited until 38 weeks anyway. Um, what do I do with that now?
Both times, for first trying the induction and sending me home, that midwife said she checked with the main doctor at the practice too. He's very well known and respected.
