Hoping for a good nap here, there is some construction happening upstairs and it interrupted nap on Tuesday. Skipping my class today so H can go to a meeting, but I have a mountain of homework as per usual.

Just booked a hair appointment for highlights and a cut next Saturday. Soooo excited. I haven't coloured my hair in probably 8 years. Can't wait for something new and fun!
Time and money are his main factors. I countered with its two hours long and is like...10 people. So small and short.
And we'd do it at like 2:30 to avoid serving a meal so less $$$.
This is all kind of what I'm thinking. Â Mostly because it's less than 2 months away now and I'm not motivated to make it into anything bigger.
This is probably an UO but I think having a huge and/or expensive party for a kid who isn't old enough to remember it is kind of ridiculous. Not saying you shouldn't do anything of course, but spending more than you are able/comfortable or stressing over a toddler's party makes my eyes roll out of my head.

I am with you on this. G's first birthday coat us like $800. No thank you to doing that again. We aren't even having a party for her this year. A friend from high school through a very elaborate 1st birthday party for her son. It was in a hall with a DJ and a candy table and all. It started at like 6 or 7pm. I gave it an eye roll. If she wants to spend all that, I don't care but I still think it's dumb.
I missed this. What was his reasoning bwisco123? Like no party at ALL, or just not a big party?
Well now he has recanted his sentiments 🙄

Yeah...that doesn't sound like anything to really stress over. Sounds like a nice family party, which is what we'll be doing too. I mean DH's parents and grandparents alone is 6 people right there...growing up my family parties were always 8-12 people total (including my family of 5). Very casual and NBD.
DS only says "bye". We had him evaluated for EI in November and she said he wouldn't qualify because of his comprehension. I'm not sure if I should call them again. Honestly, I don't really worry about it that much because he communicates pretty well non-verbally and he isn't having tantrums or seeming frustrated. He is very vocal as far as babbling a lot. I figure he'll start talking when he's ready. But I also don't want to be too breezy about it and not get help in case he does need it.
G doesn't say too much but understands everything so her pedi wasn't concerned at her 18mo appointment. We will address it again at her 2 year. She says momma, daddy, cat, I eat, I did it, I'm done, I play and yes. She probably says a few more things but not much.

This is kind of where we are. I talks almost nonstop. It's just not a recognizable language.

Nightmare bwisco123 that is so gross; but I feel like we've all been there or will be at one point or another.
K puts her food in the dog bowl and then tries to eat it. She also dunks her spoon in their water bowl. I stop her at least 3-4x a day...she's obsessed. So disgusting.

A good friend had an EI evaluation today for her M15 DS. He says a few words but understands everything and is good at getting his point across. He is getting frustrated sometimes too though. In any case he tested at 14m for expressive language and qualifies for services. So if anyone's worried I don't think it hurts to check it it now.

^^^this ... it's free and is good piece of mind. N understands everything I tell her and ask her to do, she's able to communicate pretty well non-verbally and gets the point across one way or another, but is definitely behind verabally. We had her evaluated a couple weeks ago and qualifies due to her lack of words. Doesn't hurt any to get them evaluated!
Also, I'm glad your friend qualified!! I know you've been worried about them so I'm glad that all worked out!

This is MH. I work for EI so I may SUPER sensitive to it. I need to calm myself down lol. N is only having tantrums to... well have tantrums. She's pretty good about getting her point across and tries. She can't do a lot of closed mouth sounds but. I think it'll come. I'll probably worry for forever lol but I remind myself she's not two yet lol
I think I'm probably going to call the lady who did our eval and talk to her about it and see what she thinks/recommends. It's easy to get yourself worked up about it and then talk yourself out of it. Plus other people are always telling me about their kid/grand kid/sibling/neighbor who didn't talk until they were 2+ and is a bona fide genius now.

Aw, thanks! Yes, I'm glad too. My friend is feeling bad that she didn't call when she had a gut feeling that things were wrong back in October and that he's so far behind. Hindsight sucks as a parent.
Us. We had him evaluated at 18 months at the request of his pediatrician. That was back at the end of November. He was approved, but there have been SO MANY damn delays w scheduling that just THIS week he had his 2nd & 3rd session.
His comprehension is fair. He babbles a lot. But I actually think maybe I am not giving him enough credit. When the therapist was over she said she heard a "thank you" and some other word I cant remember. So maybe I can't make his words out.

DS1 had his language explosion after he turned 2. We knew he understood us. He just didn't want to talk. MIL kept telling us his synapses weren't connecting yet. I just went along with it.
Now he's 4.5 and already reading. I don't have to prompt him or help him much, he just reads everywhere we go. It's amazing!
I didn't even know about EI. Our ped never worried so we didn't either.
I'm late and still catching up but yes. Ds only really says mum, dad, daddy (depending on his mood), ta and what I'm assuming is there. I'm hoping his one day a week at daycare will help.
Well my kid did the ultimate gross at daycare today.
Decided to put her hand in her poopy diaper and then wipe it all over her clothes in an attempt to clean her hand. 😳😳😳
I was mortified when I picked her up. Gah.
Oh man....S has only done this 2x...and thank GOD it has never been on my shift. I promptly purchased some onsie undershirts.....carters has some cute tank top kind.
