Trisomy questions: Any insight? **LC mentioned**

I'm so sorry for your loss.

We're awaiting testing results to find out what happened with our loss too, and I've been googling furiously in the meantime. I did find a resource on glowm.com that discussed frequency of different chromosomal problems in early pregnancy loss, and there was a table that showed how frequently each kind of autosomal trisomy occurs. It was pretty clinical and dry, but I can find it again if you're interested.

My understanding, though, is that trisomies are usually one-off problems with cell division at the point when either an egg or a sperm cell was being created, and don't necessarily mean you're at increased risk of the same trisomy happening again. I don't think you can technically be a "carrier" of a trisomy that isn't compatible with life, it's just a shitty thing that happens.

Thanks for the page, @eliida . Like she mentioned, it's possible that a trisomy was just a fluke, or it can be related to things like a translocation or mosaicism that you or your partner have. The chances of having an abnormal karyotype are 5%. I would definitely meet with the genetic counselor to discuss this possibility.  ETA: if a translocation or something is found, the only way around it is IVF with genetic testing to screen embryos.

They've changed the recommendations for RPL testing now to have a panel done after two consecutive losses. Since you've carried to term multiple times, it may be easier for them to narrow down specific testing for you. My OB started my RPL panel but a RE is needed since they are trained in RPL testing and treatment.

Additionally, if testing comes back normal, there are things you can do to help sperm and egg quality. I think these things made a difference for me:
- 200-300mg of CoQ10 (Ubiquinol version only) a day for your and your H. It helps by restoring energy to the mitochondria in cells so less genetic mistakes are made during the division process.
- 2700 mg of Acai berry powder a day (for you). Basically just a super antioxidant that can help egg health.

These need to be taken daily 2-3 months in advance to make a difference for egg/sperm quality.

The ladies have covered things.

Just wanted to add that we discovered my Balanced Translocation after our third loss with my karyotype. So that along with DOR and AMA and a fourth loss we moved to IVF. Unfortunately with all of the said issues we only had two blasts from three retrievals and they were both PGS tested and abnormal.
We have now moved on to DEgg.
