I potty trained my 3 year old a couple months ago. He learned within a day or two. Barely any accidents since. It was really amazing. This last week...complete disaster. He hasn't peed in the toilet one time. He does when I make him go (even then it's a battle) but typically he's now peeing and pooping in his pants. In fact, he goes as far as saying no to me when I ask him if he needs to pee and then seconds later, he'll pee in his pants. What gives? I'm losing my mind cleaning him up a million times a day.
P has done the same. With her, I think it's experimenting with holding it. Yours kinda sounds like a power struggle. Have you asked him if he wants a diaper?
TJ the twins are obviously still in diapers and I tell him "they're babies. They have diapers. You're a big boy. You wear underwear". He walks around saying "I'm a big boy. I pee in the potty." But then he really doesn't. I dont think he cares to have a diaper on but he's doesn't mind sitting in his own pee either apparently.
Ugh! Sorry. It's so frustrating as a parent. DS1 had a regression too. He was PTed before DS2 arrived and after he came was the regression. I can't remember how long it was, but it didn't last too long. It could've been some what related to the baby, but I also think part of it was the other kids at daycare.
There were a few other kids PTing just after him. They were all a little bit older and some didn't want to. One, in particular, had to be PT to start preschool that fall so his parents were really trying. He kept pooping in his pants. When DS pooped in his pants and we asked him why, he said (name) poops in his pants. We started rewarding him with a piece of candy for the days he didn't have accidents. And guess what? He got a piece of candy just about every day for a while. There were a couple true accidents, but nothing like the regression.

richzep - this is us. H has been trained for a long time (year-ish) and had a couple of weeks of accidents daily, mostly poop. Week before last he had up to 4 accidents in one day. It was so bad that daycare suggested looking into a medical problem. Last week he had zero accidents and was getting candy daily as well. I don't have any advice, I've tried sticker charts again, bribery (which worked), talks, threatening to put him back in the baby class with his brother, and I even made him wear a diaper for a few hours.
Super frustrating and all I can offer is sympathy. Hopefully it won't last long.
