So my twins just had their 2 month appts today and my girl isn't on the growth charts and my lil boy is 4% for weight. Pedi was happy with their growth since 2 week appts (3lbs for him and 2.5lbs for her) and wasn't concerned they were still so low. Should my pedi be using a chart specific to multiples or when do they kind of catch up size wise?
Mine weren't really on the standard chart until their 4 month appointment. The ped charted both their current age and adjusted age until then, where they were in a good place without adjusting for age. She wasn't concerned as long as they stayed on their own growth curve or moved up (we moved up a lot). There is a preemie chart, but we never used it because they were so close.

My Pedi is more concerned about their own growth curve as well, but she also uses adjusted age charts though she tells us where they would fall on nonadjusted charts too.
Me: 30 DH: 29; Married: September, 2010 TTC #1: April 2013 Benched: May 2013 Cancer(DH) Off the Bench: September 2014 July 2015 ER low sperm count and motility(radiation side effect). FET September 1,2015. BFP 9/9/15.- 3 on the way.
Mine were born at 36 weeks... which seems to be the cutoff for most doctors to make adjustments... anyway, they were never charted on preemie charts. DD started very low and steadily climbed until 12m. Then she shot up at their 15m appt. DS was at the bottom of the charts and just barely hit the 10th percentile at a year I think? We were one appointment away from seeing an endocrinologist. I think as a general rule preemies are expected to catch up with their peers developmentally by 3?

@jacks605, mine were born at 36 weeks and our pedi looks at both the regular and the preemie growth chart. However, at their most recent 4 month appointment, both were on the regular growth chart so I think we'll just use that from now on. They really are making sure they are on a steady trajectory.

My girls are 9th and 10th percentile on the preemie chart. I'm guessing the pedi isn't concerned where they plot as long as there is consistent growth.
My pedi also looks at both chronological age and adjusted age growth charts. Like others have said mine is more concerned about if they are growing at an appropriate rate for them.
+1 for the pediatrician looking at the individual baby's growth curve. All 3 of my kids are 35 weekers - and were not actually on the growth chart until 2 months. Also doctor did not adjust for being a premie
Same here for always being measured on the standard growth curve. L wasn't on the curve until about 2 months, but she followed her own curve nicely and is now up to 34% on the normal curve at 9 months!
Our doctor showed us both the standard chart and the adjusted chart. They said to us, as long as they keep growing and gaining along their curve, all should be fine.
Just here to ditto everyone else. Mine were 38 wks but always in the 5-10%ile range. Pedi wasn't concerned as long as they were growing in their own curves. He pointed at us and said the parents aren't very big, you aren't going to have big kids. Lol.
At 5, almost 6 years old they are still the size of most 4 year olds. they're genetically doomed to be little.

Oh and that's a good point- I'm 5'2" and MH is 5'10". They aren't going to be giants
