I'm honestly surprised that they say the yooneek names are apparently coming from the upper class (besides celebrities) because I tend to associate names like that with the lower class and undereducated.
I feel like upper class are the ones most likely to use boy names on girl names and surnames. I've met a lot of cute girls names Presley, Collins, and charley and things like that.
And then uneducated coming up with Brynlee and the like. But again maybe I just made that up.
I will have to say I disagree. While I see a few families that are upper middle class using names like this, it is almost always uneducated lower class attempting to set their children apart.

I found it interesting about how professors don't respond as quickly to feminine or ethnic names. I'd heard the ethnic name thing before but not the feminine one. And I tend to agree with PPs, when I see youneek names I think uneducated parents.

I don't know... I teach at a pretty crusty private school, and my class roster is full of safe, old-fashioned names like Henry, Ethan, and Sophia. I can't think of a single student with a "unique" name.
