I posted the other thread but I'm reading Black Pain: It just looks like we're not hurting.
I made it to page 120 of Misadventures of an awkard Black girl and gave up. It was too annoying to even complete. When she called the woman a whore I knew I was over it.
Swear I read more than books by and for Black people. Lol
Queen Sugar by Natalie Baszil -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Windfallen by Jojo Moyes - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Mothers by Brit Bennet - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Widower's Wife by Cate Holahan - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The First City by Joe Hart - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I'm Judging You: The Do-Better Manual by Luvvie Ajayi - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Just finished this yesterday and loved it!!)
I think I'm going to read Hurry Up and Meditate by David Michie and Till You Hear From Me by Pearl Cleage next.

LOL I normally don't read a lot by black authors. I try for 2 each quarter. However I've already read 4 this year so I am patting myself on the back.

I was initially challenging myself to a list of 12 but I added some random ones and now I'm annoyed by the last suggestion idk if I want to be bothered.
The person who recommended the 12 was involved with some drama and said some messed up things recently so I don't trust her judgment.
Currently reading a bunch of YA stuff (some of Rick Riordan's work) and a Benedict Jacka novel. Technically, I'm in the middle of a few other books, but I haven't read them in quite a while.
Also have plans to start/finish Frogkisser by Garth Nix sometime before the end of the month...maybe.
I just finished Secret Obsession by Kimberla Lawson Roby. Her books are pretty terrible but they're a quick trashy read. I'm a sucker for her Curtis Black series.

I love Mary Higgins Clark (suspense). I also read a lot of urban books from Amazon that have theeee most ratchet titles, but I'm hooked. They are a quick distraction.

I just started Parable of Talents by Octavia Butler. This is the first book I've read from her. Has anyone read anything from her? My sister didn't like the book she read by her.

I'm reading The Mothers now and LOVE it. I could've sat and finished it in a sitting if I didn't have to tend to S.

Yes! Love her! I read that series. It been a long time but I remember liking it even though it was crazy. I mean this chick is creating her own religion. Weird to "watch". Most of her books are science fiction so they aren't good to everyone but I find them interesting.

Me too! It's one of those stories that is simple but just really well written and pulls you in.

I want to read this. I love her!
I listened on audible and it was a little hard to get used to her accent at first. She isn't the best at reading her own work, but I got passed it and enjoyed it for what it is.

I had no idea. I only follow her on IG and twitter but don't read every post or blog entry. I'm looking forward to seeing what her and Shonda Rhimes come up with.

LOL I read a bunch of those. I'm so behind on that series. I gave up after book 5 or 6 maybe. LOL

It was something. Her post was on FB. Then spilled to Twitter. I don't think it looked good for her. Again...I was on the outside of that one so I don't have all the details. I know she kept digging a hole.
