So back story - J was breech and 9.5 lbs. We tried an inversion without success, so she was a SCS. Our hospital is not VBAC friendly and while I'm a good candidate, I'd have to drive 2.5hrs away which has never seemed worth it to me.
Our hospital is sorely lacking in progress on other fronts as well, such as soon to skin during a CS.
But here comes the great part... My Dr, who I know has been pushing for progress for sometime, asked me today if I would like a gentle CS with S2S. Of course I said yes! He said the hospital is allowing him to trial it with a few select patients, and I came to his mind as a good candidate! I'll be the second. I feel so thrilled. I know my DR us up against a lot of old school, small town red tape, but it really reaffirms for me why I choose him and that he thinks of me as a real person and mom, not just a number.
Basically as long as baby is ok, they put baby on mom's chest immediately for skin to skin while she is being sutured instead of whisking baby away, some hospitals have a clear drape or drop the drape as baby is being born to allow mom to see if she wants. The idea is for it to seem less like a surgery and to give parents a more positive birth experience.
That's so awesome your Dr is trialing it and chose you!
My awesome thing is there's a tomato on one of my tomato plants already! It's kind of an ugly tomato, but a tomato all the same And almost everything I planted looks like it's sprouting up!

Thanks for linking this for me! I got totally side tracked last night. Lol.
Speaking of awesomeness and ex's, I saw my most "major" ex today. He was walking and I was driving, so he didn't see me. Even though we both live and work in the same 8000 person town, I have seen him exactly 3 times since we broke up in 2007 (he doesn't get out much). The first time that I saw him was a couple years after we broke up (the only time I've ever been dumped) and I realized that there was still a lot of emotion there. This time I realized that I'm really happy with my life and glad that I didn't end up with him. That felt great.
