honestly? I know a lot of working moms whose breastmilk is liquid gold. They would take the bottle home and put it into a fresh bottle (no saliva on the nipple) and do a smell taste test first thing in the am. If it's good then send to daycare. If it's bad, you'll know it--it's just like bad cow's milk if it goes bad.
of course you may want to be more conservative than that and if so, you'd serve it at the next feeding and pump instead.
and the super anal answer is to toss it cause it's been drank from.
if it were frozen and thawed milk I'd fall more toward anal level of care (which sounds really horrible and I know it lol). but as fresh milk it has live antibodies that will eat most things that might be introduced from baby's backwash. the milk might get a bit off tasting, but you'd notice that if you do a smell taste test before giving to baby.
Oh thank god. I never even thought about throwing out a half drank bottle. I did exactly what AmyG said, put it in the fridge and checked it the next time. I was all of a sudden worried I was doing some harm to my boy. Well yay. Going to keep on with that then.
