Crazy things kids put in their mouths.

This morning, I was getting ready and I was right next to DD (my back was to her) and she was playing in my bedroom, nbd. There's never anything she can get a hold of that is dangerous. However, SOMEHOW, she managed to get a already burned tea light? (not even sure from where). All of a sudden, she started gagging/coughing so I looked over and scooped her mouth, it was a piece of wax. Really? I freaked out. I looked around and then saw the tea light. She only had maybe 1/4 of the tealight, probably not even that, I scooped most out. 

I REALLY freaked out though, I called poison control and they said it's okay, it's just wax and if anything the fact that it's scented might irritate her a bit but at the amount she ingested, it most likely wouldn't. She said it wasn't anything to worry about. 

I felt better after that and so far, DD has been okay. Poison control said if anything she would have some diarrhea but she hasn't as of yet. Thankfully she coughed on it instead of just sitting there eating it. Made me feel like a horrible mama. 

While searching the interwebz, I noticed some mama's have crazy stories about what their kid has ate. 

So, what has your kid put in their mouth/ate that freaked you out?

Cat fur is probably the biggest thing around here. I do my best at keeping the cat away when I'm not supervising and in taking the wads of fur that the girls pull off him (he sheds SO easily) out of their hands, but I worry one day they are going to hack up hairballs. *sigh*

It doesn't worry me as far as choking goes but DD is big on sharing her food with the dog. And half the time the dog will lick it and then DD eats it. Drives me nuts and I really try to avoid letting that happen but it happens pretty quickly (and often). So freaking gross!

other than that I can't think of anything scary she's put in her mouth but I'ms ure there have been things.

Along the same lines...she loves to wrap electrical cords around her neck. That's always fun to turn around and see! crazy girl. I think she just needs some jewels.

Im not lying when I say we never baby proofed anything when DS was born....he NEVER put anything in his mouth or opened cabinets etc. Then DD was born and EVERYTHING goes in her mouth and she opens everything. I have taken coins, paper towels, toilet paper, electrical cords, soda tops, rubber bands, medicine, out of her mouth. The list goes on and on....oh and we have issue with the dog food too....super gross

Dog food, cat food, rocks, dirt, grass. Pretty much anything she can get her hands on. It's worse when she's teething though.

My little one keeps taking the little plastic covers off the bottom of toilet bowl bolt things and will go stick them in her mouth. Grosses me out totally!!

Oh I know so gag worthy! She is obsessed with them too since she knows she can't have them.

We had to put all of ours in the child-proofed sink cabinet for the same reason! I hate staring at the bare screw but I didn't know what else to do

Before our dog died our LO would always be caught sucking on dog food. Crayons are also a favorite snack.

We've been lucky so far. A friends caught her DD snacking on a dead roach once (roaches are unfortuently a part of life here, doesn't mean you live like a slob). I gagged so hard when she told me that and now it's my biggest fear.

Lots of dog food here.... we have the mud room where the dishes are gated off, but when DH is home he forgets to close them. I swear, every time that gate is open for more than 10 seconds she's in there chowing down. She sees me coming and stuffs another fistful in her mouth because she knows I'm going to take it away. Haha. So gross.
