I'm starting to think about what I need clothes-wise for the summer. I have the hardest time finding dresses that are not jersey-knit OR formal. It's like there's no in-between. Any ideas?
Also...what do y'all do about thighs rubbing together? Lol. I know it's awkward but I've not found a solution yet that I like. I could wear spanx but fuck no to extra layers in August.

I wear walking shorts a lot. They are long enough to hide chubby legs but still be cooler than pants. I wear a lot of tank tops to because I don't mind my chest & shoulders. If I am going to wear a dress when I will be outside a lot I wear a thin jersey knit dress with Spanx like shorts. They aren't as thick as Spanxs so I don't really mind the extra layer. As far as swimsuits go, I have this one from Walmart & love it. mobile.walmart.com/ip/Suddenly-Slim-by-Catalina-Women-s-Slimming-Shirred-Halter-One-Piece-Swimsuit/29507937?type=shop-by-department
I read lots of reviews & ordered it online because I couldn't find it in a store near me. I actually felt cute & not as old & frumpy as I normally would in a one piece.
No shorts is not an option for us. I get most of my shorts from Old Navy. I don't wear a lot of dresses out and about, mainly only if I got out with DH or something. My summer outfits are typically non-jean shorts and Old Navy ribbed tanks.
@aeroplaneoverthesea, I got this top last year and I love it! I am definitely buying another one this year in a different color. I mix and match my tops and bottoms so I didn't buy bottoms from here. athleta.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=97469&vid=1&pid=739201322

Super cute, but too much boob.
I'm not sure how big you are but I am a DD and it worked. Either way bathing suit shopping sucks and I always do mine online and order like 10 things and return 9 lol

I don't need much summer clothes since it's only hot for maybe a few weeks. I've fallen in love with maxi dresses. Shorts are very hit and miss for me, I have large thighs and a small waist so they tend to ride up. I still haven't come up with a good fix for thigh rubbing.
As for bathing suits, I've got a large rack (G) and have bought all of my bathing suits at a specialty store. They have to have wiring in them or it just doesn't work. I've spent a small fortune on bathing suits but they last a long time, and are comfortable. The one I just bought before out trip was a one piece and I love it! So comfy and it keeps everything nicely tucked in.

I really like shorts from Old Navy. The 7 inch length isn't too long (knee length isn't very flattering on me) but is still long enough to help avoid thigh rubbing. I love tees from Target. I usually get the Merona classic ones. Otherwise I live in cotton dresses, knee length and maxi. Old Navy and Target have a pretty wide selection of dresses.
I definitely deal with the thigh rubbing and I haven't found anything that helps it for more than an hour or two before it just wears off. If I know I am going to be walking/moving a lot I just wear shorts. I wear dresses when I know I will have chances to sit and give my poor thighs a break.
As far as swimwear goes I am currently looking for a new suit. I've tried several one pieces and I just HATE them. One size feels too tight and then the next size up is too loose. I cannot find the perfect fit. I much prefer bikinis. I have a JCrew bottom that I love and I just need to find a top to better hold in my boobs. And everyone offended by my pasty white stretch mark covered belly can fucking suck it.
@aeroplaneoverthesea I hate them, too. I dread summer styles which I why I'm already thinking about it--I hope to do better this year. Fwiw, I found my suit at Target. It's by Sarah Blakely, so the spanx people, and they had several stypes with rouching, etc. Hope you can find something!
