Hey ladies! Hope you all have wonderful weekends!
I have a very tough weekend ahead, and I could use some advice (and some hugs). I don't want to bring you all down right at the start of your weekends though so I'll hide the question

{Warning: Pet Loss. }
If you want to spare yourself the details you can skip this first part- my question is below the break. My Bichon Max is almost 13 years old, has been dealing with diabetes for the last 2.5 years, and most certainly has cushings disease. At this point he is completely blind, can not do stairs, and I really can't tell how much pain he is in but he does a fair amount of moaning and groaning so I know he is uncomfortable. He had to stay with my parents for two weeks earlier this month while we were on vacation with the in laws and it really confused him, since we brought him home he gets lost in the house or will get up and just wander around like he is unsettled. In what has probably been the most painful decision I've ever had to make I've reach out to a vet who does in home euthanasia, and set up an appt for Saturday.
How do you talk to a 3yr old about the death of a dog? I have absolutely no idea what to tell E. I know it should be "the truth with an age appropriate level of detail", but I am so sad I literally cannot think of the words to explain to her. Even worse, the theme of the week at daycare a few weeks back was pets and since then she has become much more interested in the dogs, even to the point of asking to see them and saying she missed them when we on vacation with the inlaws.
And if you have any advice on how to help my other dog cope I could use that too... they were from the same litter and have basically never been apart so I anticipate it is going to be very hard for her to adjust.
Sorry for being a weekend downer!
