Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Trying to get our lo to sleep first in the bassinet, which is just the small version, will extend once when can get him to sleep more than 20 mins in it. If so, do you have any tips? If not, when do you plan on doing so? One thing at a time....
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex?
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? We swaddle but he still wakes with his legs after 20 mins or soo (when he's flat on his back)!
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Not yet.
If so, do you have any tips? Not yet, since we can't even seem to get DD to sleep in the pnp at all yet.
If not, when do you plan on doing so? We're sort of trying to get DD into her pnp first from her rnp, and then we'll work on her crib. I'd like her to be in her own room in her crib at about 6 months. Her room is on the other side of the house from ours, so I can't imagine we'll do it sooner.
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? I don't have a good solution for this yet, since DD doesn't like to be swaddled with her arms down. When we lay her down, we just try to do it very slowly.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? Sleep sack with the swaddle that wraps around her, but we leave her arms free, or submit ourselves to the tiny red rage monster.

We started with naps in her crib and then moved her into over night.
I don't have many tips other than stick to it once you start. DD hated the RNP and once she'd outgrown the pnp bassinet her crib was the an easy transition.
We had LO in a bedside bassinet from day 1. She used to nap in her swing or mamaroo. Didn't have a nap routine. Started putting mamaroo into bedroom, next to crib, for naps and then after a few days of that, turning off the mamaroo so she was sleeping in something still, and then a few days later, transitioning her into her crib once asleep. What really helped though was a nap routine...we had a bedtime one (bath, swaddle, book, nursing/extra bottle, lay in bassinet drowsy but awake), but no nap one. Nap routine now is swaddle, walk around dark room with paci in mouth humming a lullaby, and then laying down while drowsy, rain sound on her white noise machine (ocean noise for bedtime, to differentiate...don't know if it helps but doesn't hurt lol)...worked like a dream. After about a week of naps like this, started laying her in her crib after bedtime routine and haven't looked back. She even does both routines with her pnp while on vacation!

When you started laying your lo awake how did you do it? Did she cry?! If so, what did you do to sooth her? I would love to be able to do this but lo screams after about 10 mins!

I talked to the NP at the pediatrician's office the other day about this. She pretty much said to work out a nap routine so that they are not napping close to bedtime. Then it's a lot of trial and error to figure out what works best for your baby. Stick with it and have a lot of patience. They simply have to learn how to self soothe by themselves. I thought it was reassuring that she said she had a hard time too.

Wel I guess it kind of just happened :-P we used to put her down asleep and she would cry if she woke up, so we'd pick her up and rock her etc. but after a while, instead of picking her up, I'd shush/pat/soothe her while she was laying there, without picking her up (unless she totally lost it, or needed something like a serious diaper change, of course). Then later on, after like a week or two of this, I put her down one night thinking she was totally asleep but she wasn't. I went to soothe her thinking she would cry, but instead of her complaining, she kind of just looked around and babbled to herself so I left her alone to see what she would do...miraculously, she fell asleep on her own!! Ever since, she's been able to go down drowsy but awake. I think her knowing I was there to soothe her but not to pick her up helped her to feel comfortable enough to self soothe and relax enough to fall asleep. Also, I put her down awake after doing the same. exact. routine. each time, be it bed time or nap, and everyone who does it if I'm not around does it the same, so she knows to expect it. Also I do some playtime in her crib while shes wide awake so she has some pleasant associations with the space, and since she can't roll over yet, I put crib bumpers in it to make it feel smaller like her bassinet (though these will come out when she can roll). Just follow your LOs lead and you'll get there! Good luck
jax1182014 if I try to keep LO up and cut out an evening snooze she doesn't go to bed any early, she just makes our evening hell. It's really frustrating. I'd love her to go down before 10pm. Womp.
We moved her to the crib from the newborn napper in the pnp at nine weeks. We still swaddle in the halo, arms in. She startles too easily otherwise. I'm trying to create a nap schedule now and it's easiest to just swaddle her then too. I slept in the nursery for the first seven or eight weeks, but now we just use the monitor. It helps that she's always been a good sleeper and would have STTN from week 2 on if I hadn't woken her for feedings.
Is anyone using the PNP in lieu of a crib? We have space issues and it would be nice to have the footprint of the PNP instead of a crib. I'm worried that once she's outgrown the bassinet part, it's a bit of a stretch to put her down in the main part.

Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Yes, he wouldn't sleep in the bassinet & dr. Told us not to let him sleep at night in the RnP. Luckily he liked his crib so we went with it. If so, do you have any tips? I put his swaddle blanket in his crib ready to wrap him once he's gone to sleep. If not, when do you plan on doing so?
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? Not really an issue. Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? Swaddle with arms out but he's beginning to rollover so I think a sleep sack will be our next move.
I can't get mine out of the rnp because of her reflux. I want so badly to use our arms reach co-sleeper! I am going to try again Tuesday night because I'm off Wednesday. Also, her legs fly around out of control and then she can't sleep! Can't think of a solution to that other than her getting used to it
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Not yet. I told DH I would see how I was feeling after going back to work. Work has been just fine, but the weather has been so cold here. His room has one vent and ours has too so it is considerably warmer. Also, with his croup it is easier to keep an eye on him.
If not, when do you plan on doing so? We are thinking mid March for the transition. The weather shouldn't be as bitterly cold.
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? He usually does pretty good. If he gets startled I usually pat his chest to calm him down. This week has been rough since he has been feeling under the weather. He wants snuggles 24-7.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? Still using the swaddle sack, arms in.
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Yes, although we didn't really intend to so soon! I was home solo while DH was plowing one night. While I was trying to give my older DS a bath, DD fell asleep and since her crib was closer than the RNP in my room, I put her in the crib. And she's been there ever since.
If so, do you have any tips? I was trying to get her to nap in there for a few weeks. Her naps sucked at first, but she eventually got used to it. I use white noise, prop her mattress and at first, I was even putting a heating pad on her mattress just to warm it up before I laid her down.
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? She usually pops her eyes open when I lay her down but I just pat her belly and she drifts back off.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? Swaddle with arms in

My LO doesn't have reflux but she does have spit up problems and the pedi suggested propping one side of the bassinet/crib up by either putting books under the legs on one side or putting a pillow under one side of the mattress. Worked really well! LO is in her crib now but she was in an arms reach co sleeper with the mattress propped up.

We have a mini crib. Small foot print - little pricer than a PNP. Not sure how long she'll be able to sleep in it but hoping we'll be able to push it until we're ready to move her into a toddler bed.

Our arm's reach co-sleeper is getting too small. I think it's the mini model (not sure because we're borrowing it). We're going to have to transition Myles soon, but I'm not ready for him to be in his own room yet, which is where his crib is set up. Maybe we'll use his PNP by our bed for a while. I want to keep him in the co-sleeper, but he hits his hand on the sides when he breaks out of his swaddle. Sigh. Transitioning out of the swaddle - that's another issue.
No, we are still sleeping in the swing. Once he can roll we will start working on the crib, which will probably be within the next month. I need him to sleep during the day and night especially with a 2 year old, so it hasn't been as big as a priority for me this time. I do try for naps in the crib but they don't usually work out too well.
We do currently swaddle and are starting to try sleep sacks too. He will hardly sleep f he isn't swaddled. My first was over them by about 3.5 months and never once used a sleep sack.

Just lurking here from D14, but wanted to chime in that when LO had a cold we lowered one end of the arms reach mini to put LO on an incline-- have you considered trying that? It is still quite stable when attached to bed with strap.

+1 for mini-crib. Small footprint (as mentioned) and super cute. And still feels like a real piece of furniture.
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Yes. We were using the bassinet portion from our stroller (with stand) but lately LO had started to wiggle in the night and wake up with her head touching the top. This coincided with trying the baby Merlin sleep suit and that was definitely too tight of a squeeze in the bassinet. I had put her in her crib previously for a couple of naps. She didn't sleep that much but it did give her a chance to get comfortable. Also, ours is a mini-crib so maybe the space didn't feel quite as different as a full-size crib would have?
If so, do you have any tips? Not specifically for the crib but a really consistent routine (time and sequence of events) has helped with night-time sleep overall. Also, try, try again? We are still working on it for naps. We try it (the crib) every day and I usually end up moving LO to her swing just so she can get more sleep. I figure the crib has to work for naps eventually...
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? The Baby Merlin sleep suit has been really helpful for us. LO falls asleep pretty easily, only wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep right away. Having a pacifier while she's trying to fall asleep helps her relax.
Startle reflex is still a bit of an issue for naps. We actually tried the sleep suit for naps and it didn't really help. We do use a halo micro-fleece swaddle sack with arms out for some coziness for naps. I think it's better than nothing.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? Sleep suit for night, swaddle sack arms out for naps.
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? Not yet but I'm planning on transitioning naps over to the crib starting this week. I was waiting until she was closer to 3 months and she'll be 3 months next Saturday. I'm hoping that if naps go well we'll start doing overnights too. I'm scared to rock the boat with the night sleeping since she's been STTN for about 2 weeks now. She's was in a bassinet for the first 8 weeks and has been in the RnP the last couple weeks. She prefers to sleep on her back so I'm hoping it will be an easy transistion.
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? Her startle reflux hasn't been too bad. She will startle but she doesn't wake herself up.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? We swaddle and we use the Woombie which we love. She would break out of everything else but the Woombie has been great. I just ordered a transistional Woombie and I'll start swaddling her with one arm out soon.
pixie523ladybird I'm now curious to check the dimensions of a mini-crib against the PNP.
LO has successfully transitioned from RNP to PNP for overnight sleeping. So far, it's a bust for daytime naps. She prefers sleeping on me for naps. If I put her down, she's up in half an hour. If I hold her, she's good for 2-3 hours. She's basically outgrown the RNP. MH is sad to take it down as that is the first place she slept when she came home from the hospital.
The first week or so that she was in the PNP, I placed the boppy pillow at her thigh level. This provided some snugness that she was used to from the RNP. The last few nights, she's been moving her legs outside the boppy pillow, so its usefulness may be at an end.
We use a SwaddleMe from the arm pits down as LO doesn't like her arms in.
Have you transitioned your lo to the crib? No, not yet. He sleeps in the PNP next to my side of the bed. During the day, he sleeps in a swing in his room. If not, when do you plan on doing so? Probably closer to 6 months.
How do you muffle your lo's startle reflex? I swaddle his arms down during the day for his naps only because he sucks on his fists and it keeps him awake. For overnight sleep, he sleeps with his arms out and he self soothes to sleep.
Do you swaddle, sleep sack, or suit? We use a Halo sleep sack with swaddle wrap.
