I remember it was discussed over on The Dump once on Nov14. I know someone had linked to a science based article that refuted the effectiveness of the amber necklaces. I'll try to dig it up. Personally, I had mostly dismissed them because they just seem like they'd be a choking hazard, but I'd be open to hearing any actual experience anyone's had with them, too.
I have one for my two year old. It makes teething a complete non-issue for us. She just got her two year molars and I didn't even know until she happened to be laughing one day, and I actually got a good glimpse into the back of her mouth. As far as it being a choking hazard, the necklaces are knotted between each bead, so if it breaks, only one should fall off. The beads are also much smaller than any food she eats. Also, they are made to break if there is a lot of pressure put on them. I used to wrap it twice around her ankle at night when I couldn't watch her. I will be using one for this LO too. But, to each his own. I thought it was a bunch of hippie nonsense for a long time, and only tried it out of desperation. I am glad I did though.
Thanks for the link ladybird I read it! I've read several articles on Google and come up with similar approaches to it.
jac409 thanks for the personal experience! My mom's friend owns a kid's store here and they sell out fast. They have received pretty good feedback from it as well. She picked one up for me to have on hand and I think I'll try it out if she seems to have a hard time teething!

Haven't heard much about them but my neighbors little guy wears one and Dh & I couldn't figure out for the life of us why. So thanks for the explanation.
I am going to try them for sure! I also wanted to throw out there that mama and little makes adorable teething necklaces for mom to wear so baby can grab on and chew. They are medical/food safe silicone. I use mine as a nursing necklace right now for busy hands saves my hair from all the yanking! ETA I know that it's a different concept than the amber necklace all together, just love mine and wanted to share!
