Hey oh! Hard to believe we are already a month past Christmas. Crazy.
Time flies these days it seems.
I am struggling with names for kidd. We have a first name we think but there was a big hint dropped by mil to pass on her family middle name. Except I don't love it with the first name. I would have liked it much better with S but my husband fussed about the name and not liking it. Now he 'doesn't really care about middle names'
aggiebug Is there a variation or similar name (as a nod) that fits better with the first?
Not really. I have thought about that. I am not sure it would go over well anyway. There is a reasonable chance they will have more grandkids (younger brother) but you never know if it will be girls!
Just plugging along here. H is due to return late tomorrow. I miss him a lot and the adult conversation/interaction. I have to admit it was nice watching (and eating) what I wanted every night...but then I miss the talking and giggling before we go to sleep.
Have to make my grocery list to include A's cake request. She wants a strawberry shortcake cake. It'll be such a nice summery change from these winter doldrums! 🍓

you are almost there! Will the girls see him tomorrow or will he get home after bed time?
aggiebug they'll be asleep already since he's getting in pretty late. ☹ And yes, she requested an actual cake though so I was on the hunt for a recipe again lol. But the one I found looks simple and sounds delicious! It's pound cake type base with a really good sounding whipped cream and cream cheese frosting. And of course fresh strawberries inbetween two layers, as she made a point to make sure it was going to have FRESH strawberries in the cake. What a hoot she is.
A is super sick, thankfully just with a virus though. He has had a fever since Friday night, sore throat, coughing, headache, chills, the works.
The rest of us seem to be avoiding it so far. But V did try this morning to attempt convincing me he was too sick for preschool, lol. "I think I'm sick with what A has" *cough cough* "but only without the fever and runny nose" *more fake coughs for emphasis* "so I won't be able to go to school." Then he proceeded to run around the house, bouncing off the walls.
The new clerk starts today, so that's a relief for the rest of us up at work. I'm hoping we can get her up and trained pretty quick so we can resume our regular schedule.
Hi there! So glad H is back! Everything seems to run more smoothly when he's home. Today I made the cake layers for A's birthday. I can't believe I started contractions tonight 5 years ago.😭 I should be cleaning because my sis and nephew are coming tomorrow but I'm just not feeling it lol. I'm going to recruit the fam tonight!
A is finally starting to improve. Took him back to the doctor, who was worried about it turning into pneumonia, so prescribed some antibiotics. His fever broke yesterday, and his coughing fits are not as frequent.

Can you link the recipe? V might like that for his cake.
Anna's cake came out tasty but a little dense. I may have worked the dough too much. Or it was just supposed to be that biscuit-y texture. It was delicious though! I will try to link the page for the recipe.
We've been having a good time with family this weekend. H is smoking pork shoulder (for pulled pork) and ribs for the game! Go chiefs!
