Has anyone sleep trained their LO yet? At 3 mos I was all, "wow, I'm doing so well despite all this sleep deprivation!" and now at 5 mos the effects have really set in and I need to be sleeping longer stretches. I've read The Happy Sleeper and The Sleep Lady and am revisiting HSHHC and might bust out Ferber, too, but I've heard good things about The Sleep Lady so I'm probably going to try the Sleep Lady Shuffle. We didn't have to do much sleep training with my older one (DD) and when we did, she was around 1 so I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance that a) it works at this age and b) it works quickly (I hope!). I of course don't love letting DS cry but I don't have much faith in the No Cry Sleep Solution as it didn't work for us at all with my DD. If it takes a few nights of some tears, I'm ok with that as long as there are positive results. I nurse on demand but this week I've taken to stretching his night feedings so that he's mostly going 4 hours between feedings - I don't believe he's doing it for nutritional value at this point, I can tell he just wants to wake up to see me. And of course that's lovely and flattering but I'm going to be a much better mama to both of my kiddos if I'm better rested. Also, DS will absolutely not let DH put him down for any naps or at bedtime so I'm going to force the two of them to work it out because I can't be the only one for every nap and bedtime forever.
Anyone have some words of wisdom? We'll probably start in about a week when DH can make sure to come home from work by bedtime for several nights in a row.
