NTTCALR:Looking for suggestions of what to do in New Orleans

Hi, lovely ladies! DH and I are taking a trip to New Orleans next weekend just to get out of town and do something fun. We will be there for 4 days. I've never been and DH was there only once for a bachelor party years ago during Mardi Gras (read: he was drunk for most of it).

We're looking for suggestions of things to do. We've been given plenty of restaurant recommendations, so we're mostly looking for things to do/see during the day and after dinner. We'd like to go on a ghost tour too... anyone ever do one there? Thanks!

I highly recommend a bike tour of the city. Also, check out a cemetery while there. The National WW2 Museum is pretty cool. Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is kind of neat to have a drink in just for the history. See if Trombone Shorty is playing anywhere while you are there. Spend an evening (or 2) bar hopping on Frenchmen Street.

Otherwise, this city is made for eating and drinking! Cafe du Monde is a must. If you like oysters, check out Acme Oyster House. Port O'Call for an amazing burger. Jacques Imo's Cafe for some authentic food (try the alligator quiche).

Eating is my favorite thing to do on vacation. MH and I went to NOLA last year and our two favorite restaurants by far were Muriel's and Stanley. Muriel's has a bread pudding that is to die for, and I had their goat cheese crepe appetizer as my meal and they were delicious. And brunch at Stanley was amazing... If you like eggs benedict the Eggs Stanley are so so good!

mrsmccoy612, my parents were down there a year or two ago and they suggested Muriel's, so we made a dinner reservation

You must eat at the Gumbo Pot just off of Jackson Square. A-freaking-mazing food.

Well most of my recommendations for New Orleans revolve around food. Commander's Palace is my favorite restaurant there. It sounds like you have the restaurant list covered, but I could give you a long list if you needed it. I would also check out Magazine street - good shopping there. The garden district also has lots of beautiful houses.

Magazine street is very cool. Lots of fun shops!

Hi there! That's where I'm from, and I currently live in a suburb! I'm mobile, so can't type the long list of things that I recommend doing. I'll send you a PM. Also, next Sunday (the 25) is the king cake festival, so try to check that out! There aren't parades next weekend(they start the 31) but it's a fun time to visit right before the madness really kicks in!

We made a dinner reservation at Commander's Palace too
