yet another potty training question

So Henry has been doing a pretty good job of going potty at daycare, but he is much less successful/willing to go at home.  Daycare asked that we consider bringing in pull-ups for him.  Would you do it?  Should I be working harder at getting him to use the potty at home?  Should I go balls to the wall (so to speak) this weekend and just take away the diapers all together?

HALP. I am so indecisive and have no idea what the best course of action is.

Same-ish boat. Em is totally potty trained, but only when naked. The second you put undies, pull ups, or diapers on her, she's not even close. She tells me she likes going poop in her diaper/pull up. So definitely situationally potty trained and I have no idea how to handle it. I'll be interested to see wj12t.

I used pull ups at DC until I knew Hanna was pretty well trained. It's just easier for everyone involved with pull ups. I don't get the negative aspect of them and they had no negative effect on her. She didn't regress or go any slower and actually never had any accidents with them. I would say send them. I was hesitant to buy them and taking off those diapers and putting them on was a huge PIA. I found myself throwing away every diaper and that was pointless to me. I would also suggest starting to push him to go at home. You wouldn't have to be forceful about it.

Why would they suggest pull ups if he's doing ok at daycare? I have to agree with bliz1712 though, pull ups didn't have a negative effect on my LO's. We still use them when going out because I want to avoid the mess in public if an accident occurs. We haven't had any accidents though. Still an accident here or there at home, mostly because they are distracted or don't want to stop doing what they are doing to go. At home I just try to look for signs (potty dance, grabbing crotch) and hurry them to the bathroom or remind them if it's been a while since they went.

Someone on here mentioned putting the pull up/diaper OVER undies so they feel the wetness if they have an accident. I thought that was a good idea. That way he's more aware it happened and will hopefully dislike the feeling.

I think I'd definitely try it. If he is starting to show more interest and doing well, you might as well try and see if it helps him along the way!

If he is doing good at daycare, I'd go for an intense weekend at home without diapers or pullups (maybe just for naps if he isn't waking up dry yet). He seems so close! I'd make a huge deal talkign it up the week prior. I had pull-ups at daycare for probably 6 months after Coco was trained and they made me take them home (whoops!) I think it was a safety more for me than for her. But truely she never wet them either so we didn't have regression issues. Perhaps because I treated them like panties in that I made her pull them down just like I would regular underwear to get undressed or to potty. Rather than me doing all the work like a diaper.

We didn't use them. I would just get rid of them (except during sleep). Daycare doesn't use them for naps for him, they trust him more.

My DS is potty trained when we are at home (except at night), about 100 % with pee at daycafe and staying dry when we are out. But he won't poop anywhere but home yet so we do pull-ups at daycare and when in public. They haven't seemed to hinder his progress - he doesn't like how they feel wet. And I don't want to deal with a newborn and a potential poop accident if we are out in public yet so pull-ups it is

We went straight to panties with the exception of naps and bed time. I'm not much help...we still are in pull ups throughout thre night even though most nights she wakes up dry

I say have a weekend boot camp and just do cold turkey. That's what we did with elise and she's potty trained with the exception at naps and nighttime, we still use a pull up.
