Lo woke up a bit earlier than usual. He's done nursing but I'm holding him a bit longer to see if I can get him back in his crib so we can all get a bit more sleep. Here's to hoping it works!!
It's snowing! It looks so pretty! We never get thick, wet flakes around here, so it's pretty exciting stuff! I have an 18 month old Husky and she's going to go nuts when I let her out!
The American Sniper murder trial reached a verdict last night, one step closer to our town returning to normal. It was crazy watching something on CNN that was just happening down the street.
Funeral is today I am glad that getting LO ready and planning is a distraction.
ninergirl52 I hope it worked and you guys get more sleep.
millm0m I hope the town gets back to normal soon. Hang in there, today at the funeral I had a husky and he loved the snow! (of course)
My supply is pretty much down to nothing since AF. I have been squeaking out about 6 or 8 oz of BM now . I think I'm okay with that. It's getting harder and harder to find time to pump. I'll be okay with 1-2 bottles of BM a day.
However, I have HUGE AW to share. Since Liam had so many awful sleep nights in a row, H let me sleep the entire night. we switched sides on the bed and he took care of him all night long. I didn't even hear the first two wake ups (1 and 3) I woke up at his 5:30 am, but he let me go back to sleep. DUDE, I feel like a new person. I woke up at 7 and took Liam downstairs so that H can sleep in a bit. Liam is napping now and I'm enjoying a cup of coffee and catching up on some blogs.
@milmom I love huskys, our friends have one and when we go to their cabin in the mountains she wants to sleep outside and generally roams around the whole time. How crazy you are right down the street from the trial, hope it gets back to normal soon. Creepy Internet hugs to you for the funeral today jjh1119 glad you are not getting down on yourself about your supply and yay for your H! How sweet of him to let you sleep, I wish my H would even do one motn wake up...ever! Glad you got to recharge and sleep.
Lo had has been doing her long stretch of night sleep really early lately (like 7pm) I guess that's not too bad of a bedtime but it makes for more motn wake ups

MIL told me today that she had to give DS some formula because we ran out of BM. I check the freezer and my whole stash is gone. Also my morning sessions have dropped down that last few days for some reason. I am considering power pumping sessions. I already have regular sessions. 1 with the morning feed and 3 throughout the day. Then nurse when i get home. Anyone know if power pumping will help me replenish my stash?

jjh1119 - that stinks abou your supply, but awesome about your Dh & his letting you sleep!
millm0m - I love fresh snow. We only got snow once this year in Nov. When Lo was 2 weeks old. Crazy about the trial & I'm sorry about the funeral.
songbirdsinging55 - no advice, I actually feel silly for asking but what is power pumping?
Lo gave me another hour of sleep but we're up again. It's 6:30 am pst so I'll bring Lo back to bed with me & he'll likely sleep another hour or two. He sounded congested in his chest & I immediately felt guilty because I know he got it from me. He's with me constantly. I guess I had wishfully thought he wasn't going to get it too bad since he's EBF.

Sending lactation vibes to those who need it. kfo22, is your LO back to accepting your boob?
I'm looking at plane tickets to take just me and M to the other side of the country this summer. I'm crazy, right? Two hour drive to the airport, TSA hassle, 5 hours on the plane, then 2 hour drive on the other side. Eeesh. I'm promising myself that M will be older and thus better at traveling... I hope.
ninergirl52-Hope you got a bit more sleep! millm0m-I'm sure it is surreal watching that all unfold. Thoughts are with you at the funeral today. jjh1119-Enjoy your coffee! So glad you got a full nights rest. songbirdsinging55-I'm not sure on power pumping but I have been wondering this myself. I'm so sorry your stash is gone.
Has anyone ever tried essential oils? My aunt sells them and my cousin was able to regain her supply with the use of oils. She is the only endorsement I have of this, but it might be something to look into!
DS is starting to get ticklish. It is THE cutest thing ever. I had my parents on facetime last night and we were cracking up at him showing off. I'm so amazed at how quickly this time is passing and how much he has grown. Can we freeze time for a second?
jjh1119 I hear you on the supply prob (some more). I mentioned this earlier in the week, but I'm going to wrap up my relationship with the pump soon. I think I'm going to take a page from your book and ask H for a full night off duty.
songbirdsinging55 I've never had much luck power pumping, but it's worth a shot!
ninergirl52 how fun is Hawaii?! My H and I went for our anniversary every year until last year (we were saving for lo) I think it would be so fun to bring the baby, which island are you going to? rosieb0514 I have tried a few oils in the past...my friend is into it and gave me some fungreek (sp?) to help with supply. I guess you mix it with another type of oil and put it directly on your breasts, I have not tried it yet but she said it helped her!
rosieb0514, I mixed fennul and Basil oil with coconut oil and it seemed to help bring it back up to normal when I have a bad weekend and tank my supply. Granted I get about 18-22 oz per day so to me tanking it mean I get 12-15. I also take the Fenugreek when I can remember and it help keep it at the same level. For the mix its like 1 drop main oil per tablespoon carrier oil and you have to make sure not to get it on the nipple region. I only apply the oil at night after my last pumping session and you are only supposed to you the fennul up to ten days other wise it has an adverse affect.
My baby had three huge diaper changes this morning, the last one needed right as we were ready to leave. So then I was afraid I was going to be late and I left my delicious bright sky blond coffee with the Bailey's creamer in it sitting on the counter! Mother's milk tea doesn't give me the same pep :/
wildflower810, I feel for you but I would think it would be easier than driving. Not looking forward to my 22 hour drive each way to Florida to visit my dad. My only solace is knowing there is a beach at the end of the tunnel going there and a day to myself at home when I get back.
This talk of Hawaii and Florida and beaches is killing me. I love the snow, but the cold can suck it. I am SO ready for a beach vacation....or even to just walk out the front door without having to spend 20 minutes putting on coats, hats, leg warmers, gloves, etc etc.
kfaye I definitely have huge mom guilt over the breastfeeding thing not working, but I really can't keep beating myself up. Liam is a very happy baby, healthy and growing. I wish it worked out, obviously but I just have to deal with it and move on. He's 14 weeks today and still gets whatever I can make. I have to be okay with it.
songbirdsinging55 I think power pumping might work, I never had success with it, but basically nothing works for mine lol
rosieb0514 I've tried everything I could get my hands on to get my supply up, the only thing that sort of increases it is oatmeal/oats in general and were not talking by much. Isn't it totally awesome how every day they've learned something new?
pixie523 I think we are Internet twins lol. Same husband, same supply problem. I'm returning my symphony pump this week. I have the PISA and the avent pump so I'll keep going a bit longer, but we made it past 3 months!
zengal bummer about the coffee and the multiple diaper changes.
ninergirl52 I know when I got LO sick, hers wasn't NEAR as bad as mine. It's common in breastfed babies (or so I'm told) so hopefully it holds true for you guys!
jjh1119 so jealous of your full nights sleep! LO will do great no matter how you feed him!
kfaye maybe that early bedtime will still and night feedings will decrease. Wouldn't be too bad of a gig!
songbirdsinging55 how much is LO drinking while you are away? Is your MIL doing paced bottle feeding? Power pump and power nurse will help your body to think you are growing through a growth spurt. It won't hurt to try! I've been having good luck with mothers milk tea. I can choke it down with honey and sugar mixed in. It resulted in 3 extra oz each am and I'm able to free 5oz for my stash each work day in addition to sending fresh milk to my moms. I also have a lot better production day if I drink at least 100oz of water in the day. Good luck! You can only do your best girl!
wildflower810 sounds fun to me! If you are crazy then I'm insane on the opposite end of the spectrum. LO is 14 weeks and we are going in public for the FIRST time other than the dr today. It has been so cold and windy and I haven't really had to take her anywhere so I've just tried to avoid germs. I'm a little extra paranoid though since she had a rough start with her IUGR. I envy you!
rosieb0514 so adorble your LO is ticklish! I try hard and she just gives me a look like her mama is crazy. I want to freeze time too! No advice on essential oils, sorry
DH is home today and I was able to shower and straighten my hair, get in normal clothes and do my make up. I can never find the time to look nice when it's just me and her. Am I the only one? I feel like a slob and for work I wear scrubs so not much better! We are going to get LO some new clothes today and maybe eat out. I am soooo nervous about trying to NIP!
Talk to me about supply issue momma who EPs and formula supplements.
I admit to being just a bit OCD. I like knowing how many ounces baby is drinking. At home, we feed 2 oz EBM followed by 2 oz formula. Sometimes, she takes 3 oz total, sometimes 5 oz, usually 4 oz is good.
I'm trying to figure out if it's too much work at daycare to send 3x 2 oz EBM bottles plus 3x 2 oz formula. Alternatively, we could send 2x 4 oz EBM plus 1x 4 oz formula. I'm just not sure how her poop diaper output would change.
I pump about 12-14 oz a day and am conflicted if I should "save" it for my at home feedings vs. sending it to daycare. LO eats in low 20-something ounces a day.
Libby, I am pretty much wearing yoga pants and hoodies every day. Hair just started getting washed and blown dry weekly since being back at work. I on;y wear makeup to work, too. lol You're not the only one. Pretty sure if I didn't have to look good at work, I wouldn't.
gldnbearz, I like knowing how many ounces Liam is drinking, too. The pump happens to transfer more than Liam does so it works for us. He eats about 4 ounces at a time, too. It doesn't really matter if he gets a bottle that's half and half or a bottle of full formula plus a bottle of full breastmilk. Diapers/poop is pretty much the same.
I think, overall as long as he is getting it all, it doesn't really matter how or when.

@kayfaye - we love Hawaii. I'd love to own (and rent out) a condo there someday. We are going to Maui with my sister, bil & their 1 year old, along with my brother & SIL. We'll have a 3 to 1 adult to baby ratio so should be manageable. We found a condo on vrbo right by the beach. I cannot wait. We try to go every year too. I traveled so much for work the last 2 years we've been able to travel on airline miles so that's been nice.
Libby - Lo sounds much better now. Maybe it was just morning congestion. As for not getting dressed/make up/etc. I do only on the days I'm going to leave the house. Meaning I have not washed my hair since Sunday (I've bathed just not bothering with the hair/make up routine). So don't feel bad ... At all. I actually asked my Dh if it bothered him and he said no. I spun it that I was saving money since my hair products & make up aren't cheap I'm making them last longer! Ha!

I said the exact same thing to H. He's cool with the money savings. He claims I'm still pretty without hair and makeup, done. I noticed whenever I do actually put the effort it, he appreciates it more. lol
gldnbearz, Little man gets aprox. 3x-5oz bottles of Breastmilk everyday and 2x-5ox bottle of Neosure a day. If he wants more he get's breast milk if I have extra in the fridge. My schedule is 5 oz formula first feed, 2 bottles of yesterdays breast milk go to day care, He gets a bottle of formula when we get home, and last one of the night is breast milk. Daycare also keeps an extra bottle of breast milk on hand that's rotated daily and a 6-12oz freezer stash in case he get's extra hungry or something happens with the fresh milk. It works for us and helps me keep track that he's getting his 2 supplemental feed per doctors orders.
I did it you guys! I nursed in the front of my car! We did a shopping trip to carters and ate lunch at Olive Garden. I guess my LO knows there is life outside of our house and Nana's now. And yes I know it's INSANE that we hadn't gone out in public but I'm so OCD with germs and I was terrified to nurse her. Plus winter sucks in KS with the wind ETA thanks for making me feel better about getting ready for the day ladies! I knew I couldn't be the only one! I need to learn to rock a pony tail

songbirdsinging55, I haven't had any luck power pumping but it can't hurt to try.
ninergirl52, Power pumping is one daily group of longer intermittent sessions for a few days in a row...so pump 20 mins, rest 10mins, pump 10mins, rest 10mins, pump 10mins and finish.
pixie523,how about baby toenails!!! Get them all bathed and in a cuddly onesie outfit then realize you can't trim their little raptor feet!!!
My account is deleted from the bump but I go and check it out every now and then. Does anyone else find themselves shaking there heads at some of the few responses people give to the very few questions that get posted? Sometimes I think about creating a new account and do drive by postings to some of the odd ball answers that are given.

YES! I still have the app on my phone. Every now and again I'll go check it out and it's just sad. "sometimes formula or breastmilk doesnt fill them up like it used to" WTF does that even mean?
ninergirl52 hope you get some sleep soon and that your LO feels better. mine is congested and starting to devlope a cough too. seeing him cough makes me sad, I hope it goes away soon for both of ours!
pixie523 I was just thinking the same about Henry's nails! They are so flipping sharp already after like 2 days, its insane. I can only cut them while he is sleeping, otherwise I'm afraid I'll cut him because he flails around and hates it.
@libby congrats on the successful outing.
wicked22 I go back sometimes out of curiosity too. It's so different and not the same. it's a shame some women are missing out on real answers and support because TB had to go insane and mess it all up
