For those of you following along I was recently told I would not be eligible for a raise nor promotion prior to my mat leave.
This really made me upset because their were other people getting promoted around me and receiving raises. We recently hired 2 new sups- which is not cheap but in my eyes not a reason to not give me a raise.
I had and have been working my ass off. Working from home after working all day at the office and easily billing almost full time status hours- 40. I had been handed more and more responsibilities and had more power when it came to decision making. I had to hire an assistant to help me- not just for mat leave but in general. The boss had been telling me I would get a raise and promotion before I left so I was very upset when he told me he would.instead need to offer me a new position upon my return.
We occasionally get our kids together outside of work and he has known me for years so he could probably tell I was pissed off. I didn't say anything to him though. I debated for a little while but when my pregnancy started really taking a toll on me and he offered to let me Wfm more I didn't find it right to complain. I did however mention I was upset to the woman who worked directly under him.
Well he ended up asking her what was wrong with me. I could have kicked myself for telling her. I don't know what she said and I don't want to know.
In the end I got a phone call from him a couple weeks ago saying he is promoting me and giving me a raise. I got a call from hr that it is official as of last week.
I am just now allowing myself to celebrate. I'm a little upset that i feel like i got it because i whined to the woman. However at the same time i did feel it was unfair The way they were treating me and it had been a year since my last raise of only 60 cents.
I'm excited now and plan on going back to work as planned.
Just wanted to update you all.
