I usually color my hair at home, but between smelling from lack of showers, and having my greasy hair always up in a messy bun, I am in desperate need of a mommy make over and want my stylist to color my hair.
It's naturally light blonde, but the roots grow in dishwater color and then lighten up a few inches down. So do I only ask for my roots to be done, or do I want an all over color? I haven't had my hair colored in a salon in years.
I've been going to my stylist for a few years now so I know she can help me figure out what I want, but id like to know what I'm getting before I go in.

I love doing all over colors but they are a lot of maintenance. Would it be something you'd want to keep up with? Highlights/low lights can be a fun option too. What kind of look do you want?
Hmm maintainence is a good point. I don't really want to do anything I want to have to keep having done. I just really want to not look like I am not naturally blonde since my roots are always such a blah color. Maybe for now I'll just get a new haircut and think about the color some more.

I kind of want to color my hair darker in the winter and lighter in the summer (it's a dirty blonde color). However, I'm just like yalllow and afraid to do it without knowing what it will look like.
I tried lighter highlights in college and my whole head turned a bright obnoxious yellow/blonde that looked horrible on me.
angelsnight If you're planning to be outside a fair amount this summer you could get highlights now and nature will help you maintain them until September.
angelsnight, my hair does the same thing! darker dishwater blonde at the top but more blonde towards the bottom. before we tried to conceive LO, I got a blonde ombre, and that was awesome because I didn't have to maintain the color at all but it still looked great. I'm looking into getting balayage for my next since I'm pretty shaggy right now. looks like that would be low maintenance. I use pinterest for ideas.
