Still trying to figure out the right bottle for these boys. They both are super burp and don't seem to make a great seal on either the ventaire or avent. I'm thinking of trying dr browns bc the nipple is narrower and they both did great on those disposable Nipples from the hospital ready to use bottles. I've heard dr browns are a pain to clean but any other reviews of them? Also wondering about nipples. Avent level 2 is 1+ mth and dr brown level 2 is 3+ mth. Anyone use both these bottles and know how the speeds compare? Thanks!
New q is about mixing formula for it. It says not to shake in bottle. Did anyone do this and it worked? If not, how did you mix? We aren't warming bottles (just using room temp water) so I don't want to mix a pitcher beforehand for the frig, plus we are on the go a lot.
We used dr Browns only, so I can't compare them to any other kind, but we had no issues. Yes they have a lot of little pieces. But they come with a little brush for cleaning. You will get used to the cleaning.

We use Dr. Brown's and I'll second that we have never had a problem with the cleaning. They do have a bunch of parts, but the little brush is useful as is the dishwasher (if you have one, ours is currently broken ).
We used dr browns and never had a problem. We didn't have a problem cleaning them. If you have a dishwasher it does make it easier but it's definitely not unmanageable without.
With evie it was the third bottle brand we tried and I was so relieved to find that they worked. I didn't even want to attempt a different brand with Caz.
We used dr. Browns. I put all the parts in s dishwasher basket and boiled them maybe once a week with the pacifiers. Didn't really seem like extra work! I think we only ever used the level one though and the other bottles we used from the NICU were premie nipples.
We used both dr browns and tommee tippee sensitive tummy bottles. Both brands have a ton of pieces, but they both helped her reflux SO much that I didn't care. We also just tossed everything in to those dishwasher baskets and called it a day. No big deal. Just need a big drying rack

We used the first years breastflow bottles for S and never had any real issues. It happened to be on the registry and something we received at our shower so we just went with that brand. We bought several dishwasher baskets, too and extra bottles.
All we ever used with my kids is Dr. Brown. We used the dishwasher baskets and have a heated dry setting on our dishwasher, so cleaning was never an issue. It just takes a few extra seconds to break them down and put them back together, but after the first couple times you don't even notice it and can put them together with your eyes closed.
But I will add...I'm less than a month away from tossing all of our bottles FOR EVER and I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. brown users here too. They are a pain to clean but not more awful than cleaning other bottles. They have a basket where you can put the parts and throw them in the dishwasher.
I have 15. I liked to have two full days worth plus a few extra in case one got left in the car, diaper bag, whatever. That way I wasn't washing bottles every day.
2nd question- I used the pitcher for most things. T wasn't picky about temps. I do remember when I was out though doing it in the bottle. I think they say that because it gets a little bubbly.
yes, definitely get more bottles. I had 16 for one kid, of course you would be washing bottles all day. I never boiled or hand cleaned the parts, just the dishwasher basket and it was fine. I take that back, I did hand wash the nipples but I just put a bowl of soapy water by the sink and tossed them in throughout the day. At night I would wash them all together. Maybe just another trick to try.
As far as mixing. I would put in the powder first then add about 1-2 ounces of warmer water (room temp if I was out somewhere) and swirl that first. I made sure it was dissolved and not chunky before I added the other water (room temp) Then I added about 2 gas drops to each bottle just to get rid of any bubbles. I just used tap water. Hope that helps.
For mixing, we had a cap from one of the models bottles that fit in perfectly and we shook the formula that way first, and then added all the parts. I'm assuming that's why they say don't mix in the bottle because there might be more chunks with the parts in the bottle while mixing.
I didn't even read that you weren't supposed to mix in the bottle, so I mixed every single bottle in the bottle with the parts LOL. Obviously it worked fine haha. I wouldn't bother with mixing them seprately unless you care that they are a little frothy right after mixing. Like others said: you can put some gas drops in to kill the bubbles if you need to. It was never an issue for my kids though.
Also, with cleaning: I always rinse out the nipples and the little tube before I put them in the dishwasher basket. Takes two seconds to just run them under the faucet, and then they come out perfectly clean. If you don't rinse them, you'll find the dishwasher doesn't quite get it all the way clean.
