Car Seat Question

I know several of you have Diono car seats.  We are going to need to get a car seat for Andrew eventually. We have a Recaro, which we really like, but rear facing its really long and causes issues if its right behind another seat.  Even in the middle, its practically reaching into the front.  However, the Recaro is pretty narrow, so it doesn't take up huge amounts of the backseat.  The Diono seats are on Zulily today.  


Question:  What do you think of your Diono?  Do the prices on Zulily seem like a good deal?  Are they really as tall as they look in those pictures (ie, how do they fit in your cars? )?  Any issues/considerations?

We have the radian, and it does have a very tall shell, so it can take up a lot of space from front to back. However they do have the angle adjuster you can buy, but it makes it a bit more upright and not recommended for smaller babies since you usually want more of the recline. I don't have the angle adjuster in my car.

It does make my passenger seat sit fairly far forward, so H can't sit there comfortably (I have a Nissan Rogue, and he's 6'2") but I'm comfortable in the front seat (5'5").

I thought about getting the angle adjuster awhile back, but never did b/c if we took my car I just let H drive, and it was fine....

I do love the seat though because it is so narrow (side to side) so we could still fit 2 adults in my backseat fairly comfortably next to her seat. Had it been in the middle it would be even better, (b/c I have like 5" on the door side of her seat) but I can't install in the center since my seats fold down and center belt is a detachable.

We have them. We have no problem rear facing, but they are quite tall (long?). We have a minivan and just have the second row seats all the way back. Caz is still rf. evie is ff. the seats are insanely narrow and we can get 3 across in any of our cars or my parents cars which is a huge plus.

The only complaint I have is that sometimes it's really hard to tighten evies seat, but never cazs. So I don't know if it's a fluke or the material makes that much difference (they have different material seats) but it is so obnoxious.

Ok, I don't have either of those seats, but our Nextfit is amazing and has really high rear facing limits, but we didn't have an issue with the height. My husband is 6'4" and fit comfortably in my car when Tyler was rear facing.

origamimommy - That was another one I was thinking about looking into. Is it pretty wide (ie, does it take up a lot of seat space)?

It doesn't take up any more space than the seat. Tyler is a really tall, thin kid, and he is super comfy in this seat!

ETA: The seat on the bench of the car, make sense?  Like it doesn't over flow onto the middle seat.  I don't have to fit more than one, so it's hard for me to speak to that, but I don't think it's huge.  BRU will actually let you try seats in your car if you ask.  That helped us a ton!

I like our Diono, but they are tall/long. We both drive standard sedans and TheBoy couldn't ride in the passenger front seat when she was rearfacing. I could, but very limited leg room.

They're narrow though - you can actually fit three of then across most cars if you needed,

We have the Clek Foonf, which is also pretty narrow. It's a very tall seat, but I find that the angle it sits at doesn't really impact the passenger seat. I have a Honda CR-V and I think my passenger seat is up one click, maybe. It's also narrow--I can fit two people in my backseat without any issues.
