Is the book always better than the movie?

I recently finished The Devil Wears Prada, and I really disliked the book. I was wondering what movies do you like better than the books?

For me it's The Devil Wears Prada and The Notebook.

No a movie (yet) but Wicked was leaps and bounds better on stage than on the page.

I preferred The Notebook as a movie, as well. Same goes for A Walk to Remember.

I do think that the book is better than the movie most of the time, with a few exceptions.

Almost always, but I liked the Divergent movie better than the book. Though neither was great.

I love the movie version of Stardust, but the book is just meh.

Eat pray love is better as a movie for me. I didn't really like the book but loved the movie.

Honestly, because it was so long and I got caught up trying to remember all the names and figure out the elf language, I thought Lord of the Rings was better as a movie than as a book.

I also agree about The Devil Wears Prada.

I just saw The Fault in Our Stars, and I might have liked the movie a smidge better than the book.

I have not found a movie that I prefer to a book yet. But I thought that the Harry Potter films were done really well and didn't disappoint me after reading the books (even though I still much prefer the books)

I like the book better, but they did a fantastic job on this movie. I watched it again last night.

I agree 100% with The Notebook. I despised the novel, adored the movie.

I think that Alice in Wonderland is better as the cartoon movie than the book.

The only one I can think of is Forrest Gump. I also agree that Wicked was a million times better on stage than the book.

Not a movie, but I prefer watching GOT to reading it. Not sure why, I just find the books lose my attention whereas I'm glued to the show. This is the complete opposite to how I usually feel with picture vs page.
