I am so sick of this weather, we had a full day closure today (of course it looks like it was unnecessary but get it after last year better to be safe) and 3 late starts over the last 2 weeks.
Yesterday it was in the high 70s today it's just above freezing I am OVER it.
I need us to get back to our normal routine, I need DD to get her full day of school, I need to be able to have book club (canceled due to weather concerns the past two weeks).

Sick of winter here, too! We have another snow day today. They were out on Monday, too. I feel like it'll be a miracle if they have school tomorrow. I NEED these kids to go to school!

So much to bitch about.

1. The weather. Between the ice, the snow, the rain, and bitter temps, DS and I haven't been able to go to NY to do some research for a couple papers he needs to do. Maybe Saturday.

2. The weather. The discharge hose to my sump pump is not properly buried below the frost line. It's basically a vacuum cleaner hose that lays on the yard. The freeze/thaw cycle means it keeps getting filled with ice which prevents it from working properly when the temp gets warm and the french drain fills up.

3. The weather. If my mom calls me from Florida and shares abut her 80*F temperature one more time I'm going to put her in a "home". In Boston.

4. The weather. This is supposed to be spring break.

5. Moms doing great with her knee replacement and going into great detail about the healing of the incision, the hot PT who comes to her house, the stellar range of motion of the new joint, her TENS unit, etc. Dad just got dxd with diabetes yesterday and radio silence. It's like pulling teeth. This might have just happened.

Me: So they gave dad a diabetes dx? What kind?

Mom: I'm not sure. I think the lazy old man kind. He doesn't drink enough water.

Me: Sounds like Type 2. Did he get a prescription?

Mom: Yes. But not the Metformin they gave him when he had diabetes before. They gave him 3 meds.

Me: What do you mean when he had diabetes before?

Mom: Before. I thought I mentioned it. He stopped taking the Metformin because it upset his stomach. So he stopped drinking and lost weight so the diabetes probably went away.

Me: Or he lost weight as symptom of the diabetes. What 3 prescriptions did they give him?

Mom: I dunno, something with a "J". He's being secretive.

Me: Weren't you in the office with him?

Mom: Yes, but I don't remember what the meds were called.

Me: You know he's going to have to be more active and watch what he eats. Did they refer you to an RD or does the hospital have a patient education seminar for the newly dxd?

Mom: We didn't get anything like that. We'll see the doctor again in a month.

Me: Well, I'm sure you can find some guidance about what he should be eating on line or in the library. He might have to watch his carbs. How much booze does "not drinking" mean currently?

Mom: Oh, about 2 glasses of chardonnay a night, but not those giant glasses like you have. (As if I'd ever fill a Riedel glass to the brim)

mrsbuttinski, oh my. That is quite a conversation. I think you are fully justified to put your mom in a home in Boston also. I have relatives in FL too who like to post weather memes on FB.

The dryness. This winter has been awful in that regard. I think my skin is about the driest it has ever been. Worse than that, my eye that LO had stabbed a while back gets extremely painful yet when it gets dried out. Several mornings lately have started out torturous. At least during the day I can get ahead of it with drops. I have to keep drops in a precise spot by the bed so I can find them in the mornings without opening my eyes.

1. The weather. I'm psyched that it's supposed to get more seasonal starting this weekend, and be right around our averages by midweek next week. Of course that doesn't negate the 8"+ of snow that dumped on us today, on top of the ice from Tuesday, and on top of the anticipated negative air temps tonight before the wind chill. Go away, winter.

2. MH decided he's going to hop on the SS Denial again and travel at a high rate of speed. He's back to claiming that the kiddo's acting like "any other 4 year old" and even tried to pull the "You heard what my mother said; she said she's a normal 4, and she's acting similarly to what I did at that age!" Yeah, he probably shouldn't be pulling that argument, because there were a LOT of things going on with him at 4 that they had to get interventions for.

Why does the weather have to happen the worst possible time in the month work-wise? Working from home goes so much more smoothly when I don't actually have to do much work. I have been on the computer since 6:45 am and it is 4:32 now.

Char was being a pill about not wanting to play upstairs so I made her work for 3 hours like she would at school. The first 90 was great. She made a constellation by herself, then put the outer space puzzle together by herself. Awesome. Then she enthusiastically wanted to do the puzzle again, but 10 min in wanted to quit. I made her finish and then she didn't want to do anything. I got a bunch of options out but she refused and made a snack instead. After the snack, she begged to wash the floor. Perfect! I love it when she thinks she's winning lol. Then she still had 15 min to work and after some time grumbling she wrote a letter to her grandmother. I suggested she tell her about her favorite planets and she set to work. She basically listed them all (spelling questionable) and then wrote "Mi favret is Neptune" and glued a cut out drawing of Neptune complete with "rengs" and arrows pointing to the words "Neptune" and "rengs" and a few stars to the paper.

And now she is happily playing alone upstairs. Heheheh.

However I'll bitch about the printer breaking as I tried to print a homemade (on my lunch break) baby/adult animals matching game for her to work on.

I don't want to meal plan, I don't want to balance our checkbook thing, I don't want to go to ADHD group therapy, I don't want to be an adult today. I just want to go to sleep for about 24 hours and wake up feeling like a human again. Idk what my deal is, but I am wondering if my Adderall needs adjusting or if it's just the aftermath of my period.

DD hit someone at preschool today and the teacher didn't tell me, she did. I really need to figure out when I'm going to be able to go in after class and talk to them.

This is about my NT kid, but today (during Leo's ST) Oliver told us that he doesn't want to be friends with a certain classmate anymore "Because he says potty words, like 'Hey, touch my nuts.'" :/ I emailed the teacher to let her know.

Also, re Leo, his whining has been really getting under my skin lately. I feel bad but my tolerance for it seems to be getting shorter. We've been working on it for years but it never really seems to get better.

The only reason we didn't sooner is because M was worried that he'd look stupid to his friends if he didn't take it and they did. We've been discussing it with him for more than a week, and we are finally all on the same page.

DS'staffing meeting is in 24 days. I'm ready but nervous about it too, since Ive never had a staffing meeting before. DH is going too, that being said, we as ready as we can be.

I thought I was going to get "trouble" for calling the U of I clinic myself rather than letting the nurse who'd been advocating for us do it. Turns out, I got a thank you from the CEO for bringing it to their attention because they didn't know that these rural clinics they'd set up (where our nurse is stationed) actually had people wanting services and that the child psych that was supposed to be saving a slot wasn't actually doing it.

So formal testing is April 16.

Hello Tics. Nice to know you. We've been lucky enough to experience Pandas/pans without tic but now two days ago we have weird tongue licking tic, eye blinking tic and a face contorting tic all in one. Because, you know, one tic is just not enough for us...

The baby was fitted for his SMOs. Feels. I was ready to throw down if we had an asshole salesperson when we went to get his shoes after, but it was this mellow dude and he was perfect.

Later dragged the baby to the dev pedi appointment for the kid (because why not two visits to Children's in one day?). She confirmed I'm seeing all the right specialists--neuro, ortho, ophthalmology, audiology, genetics. She noted that he "looks like a preemie" although she knows he isn't. She also apologized. I still don't know what to do with apologies about him. We knowingly gambled with his neurology and lost in a whole new way. I can't change it; all I can do is the best I can to help him.

Supposed to go to a huge disability conference tomorrow. I don't feel like it after today.

A day late and a dollar short, but I'm not here daily right now.

1. Weather: Can it just be spring and an easy 70-some degrees daily?  I'm tired of the up and down temps.  Specifically the down ones which means cold.  :-)

2. Pregnancy: I'm 31wk tomorrow. I will deliver no later then 39wk.  I don't think I'll even make it that far but April 18 is 37wk and I really hope to make it to at least that.  Overall the pregnancy is fine but I am on the low side of normal for amniotic fluid. 

3. Pregnancy: The literally peeing every.single.hour. in the middle of the night is getting to be ridiculous.  I'm amazed if I get 2hr of continuous sleep.

4. The boys: The whining from the 5yr old and the attitude from the 6yr old are about to drive me insane.  The constantly pushing each others buttons is pushing me over the edge. 

5. Laundry: I don't normally get bothered by it but our laundry room is in our garage.  I had to put a space heater in there today so I do turn into a damn icicle.  And then of course, it gets hotter then hell in there during the summer.  Good times.

6. We are moving to AZ this summer.  There is so much going on in my head that I can't keep it all straight.  I need to create a list and put it someplace where I won't lose it.  So much to finish up here and then so much to start up when we get there, plus all the planning of the route, the days and days of driving, sleeping in hotels, etc.  Not really looking forward to all of this.

We had a horrible meeting this week. Both my husband and I are still trying to get past the "we got played" feeling and focus on the next step.

I said last year that I would never attend another meeting w/o an advocate. The advocate and I felt we had to have this meeting...I haven't spoken with her about the meeting it was a mistake.

We have to strategize the future.

I have recently become "buddies" with my barely grown nephew. I was very close to him and his brother when he was young and I still adore him. Since he is an adult I made it clear that I love and support him. Apparently this means he can share his rather damning gansta rap lyrics with me and I am not supposed to tell his mom, my sister, whom I haven't really spoken with in over a year since she was rather cruel to me and decided not to talk to me anymore when I called her on it. She has apparently realized that since she doesn't talk to our other sister OR my dad OR me, that maybe the problem isn't us and is trying to reestablish a relationship, starting with my dad and seems to be starting to warm to me. So fun.
