I was supposed to have a shower today, but a week ago my mom passed away (she was hosting) and long story short - I just can't continue with the shower. I had a few people send cards late last week (just before she passed) saying they couldn't come, but that they wished they could and they sent gift cards. I have since seen these people at the funeral, but obviously didn't think to thank them in person for the gift with everything going on. Should I still send a thank you? I'm leaning towards yes for propriety sake but I just don't know in this situation.
So sorry for your loss. To echo PP, yes, every person who sends a gift should receive a hand written (and as timely as possible, though I would imagine they would grant you so slack in the wake of your loss) thank you card.
Thank you everyone. I had a free moment this week and bought cards. Now I just have to write and send them. I'm struggling a lot with all of this, and am just so overwhelmed and feel like my pregnancy is bittersweet. I'm just not enjoying it like I was. Sorry to unload... it's just all so ugh.
