STM+ induction stress relivers

So MFM and OB want to induce me next weekend (ie: January 23rd).  I have never had to be induced before. I mean does breaking my waters with DD when i was 4cm and having mild to me contractions count as induction? I am actually nervous to have this done. I know that the chance of a c-section goes up, the labor can be harder and more painful, and not easy on baby.  I'm totally on board with their reasoning for why to do this but geez...nervous. 

Advice to make this easier, less stressful? Tips for DH as he is nervous to but trying not to show it. 

I've already "employed" a friend of ours to help play "bouncer with DH family/keep DH calm" while in labor after MIL took me to the dr yesterday.  She's sweet and im greatful for the help MIL has done around here the past few weeks but I really needed to talk to DH abut what the Dr said before we talked with her.

May I ask why you're being induced?

Lots and lots of babies are induced without c sections. It's not a lot of fun (my first two were both inductions) but you'll be fine. Just focus on the fact that next weekend you'll have your sweet baby in your arms.

My bp has been high the entire pregnancy and after the car wreck on the 2nd my 24hr urine test went from a baseline of 130 something to 429. MFM doesn't want me going any longer than next week.  I was already 80% effaced last week so im hoping im somewhat dilated when she checks me next Wednesday.   DH is on board with the reasoning behind but still, its not what we were planning.

I could be wrong but could you ask about starting with cervadil only? I am definitely not a doctor but I think the pitocin is what causes major contractions and if you are already dilated they can try just cervadil by itself to see if that gets you going. Again, not a doctor, but from what I have heard from other moms the cervadil isn't as bad.

I was induced with my first and it was pretty smooth. They put me on pitocin and broke my water pretty early. I think I was dialated a bit but not effaced. Do you know if you have any dialation/ effacement yet? I think that can help from something my doc said last week but not sure.

Honestly so nice to go to breakfast beforehand and not be playing the is this labor game and will I have my baby on the side of the road and will someone answer the phone to take DS that I am expecting this time.

allonsy221b Totally loving the Doctor GIF! DD wanted to name LO Amelia or Melody. Heck she is still insisting if LO is a red-head we have to changer her name from Raegan to Amelia Rose.....LOL

I'm hoping we can start off with Cervadil before we hit the Pit stage. Guess it all depends on what is going on Wednesday.

I was induced with DD. I just made sure that I had all the comforts that I thiught I would need packed in my suitcase. Snacks. Magazines. Labor CD. We went in the night before. I watched television, ate my "last meal," and they put a suppository up in there to help get my body ready. The next morning I woke up, took a shower, "cleaned out the pipes," and got ready for a long day. I'd say it was relatively stress free most of the day cause my body wasn't responding to the pitocin as much as they had hoped. Once I had the pitocin, I had the epidural not too long after that. I cant say that it was too stressful. I think the key was having a great nurse who helped me along the way. She was awesome. It did get stressful at the end when they thought that I would have to have a c-section, but again my nurse was amazing & kept me in check. After pushing for nearly 2.5 hours, they were concerned that DD wouldn't fit and she had been in the same spot for too long....My awesome nurse destressed the situation by offering some last ditch effort solutions besides c-section that I went with. The vacuum worked & 15 minutes later DD was born. Bring distractions that you like that make you feel comfortable....

I agree about the cervadil. I dilated from 0-3 overnight with that, and then my water broke on its own. I ended up with a c section because the baby wouldn't clear my pelvis, but the cervadil experience was really positive.

I'm not going to lie, DH suggested Strax as an actual name for this kid, because newborns look like potatoes anyway. Amelia and Clara were on our list for girls. At least the names aren't so crazy that Doctor Who is the first thing you'd jump to when you hear it, like people naming their kid Khaleesi etc.

Also, I love the names your DD picked! haha my DD is only two but she gets so excited when the Doctor Who theme comes on, she has a whole dance she does with it.

HAHAHA!! DS was just calling DH Strax the other day because he shaved his head. I made DS a TARDIS last year to hold all his NERF guns and darts. Let's just say it wasn't the simple project I thought it would have been.

That is so freaking amazing!! I'm having a Tardis book case made for this ones room but I'm paying someone because other than sonic screwdrivers, tools and I don't mix
