I finished The Millionaire Next Door this weekend. Some interesting things, most of which I already knew but nice to have it backed up by research. I believe the author just passed away too so I think that prompted me to read it.
We finished Transparent on Netflix. It wasn't what I expected but I would watch another season if it came on. We also finised The United States of Tara series which I did enjoy.
QOTW: We no longer have cable but my favorite channel was definitely HGTV. I could watch all day long!
I am binge watching Parenthood. It is a real struggle to do real life things.
I am actually reading something too though. GKU is doing a book club and are reading The Red Tent. It is far better than I had expected it to be. It took me a second to get going, but I am excited to finish it.
Once I finish that, I will be moving on to Wounded Women of the Bible, I am not sure exactly what it is about, but I am going to a Women's Retreat in April, and it will be discussed.
ETA: QOTW: We watch lots of tv, but I don't know what channels they are on because we have DVR. If I have control of the tv, it normally is on Food Network if I am not watching something already recorded.
We've been watching 'Borgen' on Netflix. Yes, the old school way- you have to mail order it, not stream, but it's totally worth it. Such a good show with great writing and a fantastic female lead. I've been recommending it to everyone lately, and I mean every one- friends, family...random people I meet on planes and in hotel bars.... lol Other than that- House of Cards, Once Upon a Time (fun, guilty pleasure), About a Boy, New Girl... (no, we can't keep up with them all).
We don't currently have cable, so don't have a favorite channel. We're an Apple TV/Hulu/Netflix house.

I loved The Red Tent. They made a mini series out of it.

It would make a great mini series! Did you watch it?

My favorite channel is the ID channel. Some people wonder why I would want to watch crimes on my off time when I work them for a living. I can't explain, I just love law enforcement, justice, and everything else that encompasses my passion. I live and breath Criminal Justice.
As far as movies go....I am old school. In fact the other day I wanted to watch Pretty Woman (came out in 1990) and so we rented it. I also love the movie Beaches, Forever Young, A league of Their Own, and Fried Green Tomatoes.
I'm "reading" the audiobook of "Tempting Fate" by Carla Neggers. It's a mystery/romance type book. I listen to it when I'm alone in the car and when cooking or cleaning the kitchen.
Inspired by this week's check-in's GTKY, I want to start read some parenting books.
We just started watching Netflix's "Unbreakable Kimmy" (or whatever it's called) and are enjoying it. We're also re-watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix.
QOTW: We don't have cable any more, but I really like TLC and the other stations that have things like the Property Brothers and Say Yes to the Dress.

****loss and living child discussed***** We're queer. I'm 34, have severe stage 4 endo, and both fallopian tubes are gone. My love ("Manada" 33) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tav.in and Ca.sey at 21 weeks gestation.
Not sure. Maybe History channel. I'll have to look it up.
I tried watching Breaking Bad but it depressed me. Not sure what all the hype is about it. Anyone love it?
I couldn't do it! And I tried, it seems like everyone loves it. B kept giving me a hard time, asking when I was just going to give up on it. I think I made it through about 5 episodes and I couldn't make myself watch it anymore.

I finished both "Thief's Magic" by Trudi Canavan and "Dangerous Creatures" by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl this week. I'm still not sure how Thief's Magic's two parts are related, which is really of annoying, but it was good other than that. Dangerous Creatures was a companion/sequel series to another set of books I read ages ago, and though it was good, it wasn't good as the previous series.
I'm trying to catch up with BBC's "The Musketeers" and I'm about to see season 2 of Vikings.
QOTW: I don't know, I watch most things online or on netflix to be honest.
I love the Blacklist. Its horrible in a good way...I dont know why Lizzie hates the idea of Red being her dad. To me, an international criminal who kills everyone around you is perhaps preferable to the real deal. James Spader in anything-- I loved Boston Legal. I liked Rookie Blue too. Just finished Wallendar with Kenneth Brannagh. OITNB I hate and love. The rest of the time I like Antiques Roadshow, geneology shows, documentaries. I liked the history channel when it was actual history.
ETA: I read exactly the same way. I dont want variety or new characters. I like long running detective novels with the same characters - a series. For example the one with Butch Karp in it. Then I like history. Ill read anything about the Revolutionary war. Im a bit of a Founding Fathers buff. And finally actual literature/fiction.
Not sure. Maybe History channel. I'll have to look it up.

I watched all of it, and I hated it. My wife loved the show. I don't get it. He's a jerk, stays a jerk, and I just couldn't find a redeeming quality other than I think his wife is kinda hot lol
I too am binge watching House of Cards season 3 right now, not as good as the other 2 seasons though IMO. And we always watch Walking Dead each week.
No books for me boooooo!
QOTW: I'm an Apple TV girl and we watch Netflix and HBOgo all the time. Now that they have HBOnow coming to the apple TV I think I can finally get my wife to agree to cut the cable!
