I've never actually bothered with a primary care doc. I have one for paperwork purposes, but don't really use her (she is a the back up doc for my MW though, so I know her). How are you using your primary care doctor? How often do you see them?

I use mine primarily for my yearly physical. I have gone once when I had unbearable pain in my wrist, and I got a referral for a hand surgeon from him, although I could have just as easily gone straight to the hand surgeon myself, had I known that's who I needed to see.
I don't think this is a stupid question. I haven't really had a primary care doctor since I was young enough to see a pediatrician. I've just always been fairly healthy, and if/when I get sick I go to urgent care. I feel like I should probably have someone in the area in case I ever have a more serious illness.
I get like 5-6 sinus infections a year, so I have a PcP to get amoxicillin mainly. Plus he does an annual exam and can compare last years numbers to this year. I've also gone for uti symptoms since he's closer than my obgyn, and I went when my back went out and got some pills and a referral. But yea- mainly cheaper to go there than urgent care for the sinusitis/ bronchitis stuff.
This belongs in FFFC, but I don't have one. I used to and then he changed practices and I never bothered to find another.... This was about two years ago.

This exactly. I know I should have one, but haven't since I went to the pediatrician.
I feel like the strange one here. I've been going to the same practice since I was 5. I followed my pediatrician from his private office to St. Elizabeth. Then when he retired I kept going to the same office but started seeing the other doctors. And now one of my best friends is a nurse in my doctor's office. I also send my kids there to the ped on staff and most of the nurses know us all by name. :-)
