I'm so jealous! I woke up to a sick puppy poor guy was not feeling good, refused to eat and just wanted snuggles this morning. Good thing my sister came over since she has today off school and could baby him! Today is a really busy day at the office since it's a day off and everyone wants to get their eyes checked.

So my BIL and SIL are BSC. Especially when it comes to parenting. Their idea of parenting is to let their daughter, who is 3 years older than their son "punish" him and parent him. They have no rules, boundaries, or sense of normalcy in their life. It's unclear if the kids even get 3 meals a day. However, my SIL's sister is amazing and wonderful and I adore her. She's smart, funny, down to earth and has her wits about her. The entire family bags on her for actually parenting her kid - like since she was hosting Christmas day, she asked everyone to come over around 2, when her 1 year old would be waking from naptime. And everyone pitched a fit that she didn't rearrange her kid's nap schedule to have people over earlier.
SIL and her sister live about 20 minutes away from each other. So they were going to get together yesterday and take the kids to the zoo. Except my niece is really sick. So my bitchy MIL, who ALWAYS gets it wrong, is telling everyone that SIL's sister told SIL not to come to the zoo with her sick kid because her precious baby couldn't chance getting sick. DH and I are 99% sure that SIL's sister probably said something like "You know, if niece is sick, we don't have to go to the zoo, we can go another time." I just feel bad this poor woman is surrounded by mean nutcases.
billyhorrible ugh... I feel bad for your SILs sister. What a nightmare.
My random for the day is that DD slept the whole night in Her big girl bed!! I thought it would be more of a battle to get her there but she wanted to sleep there. I'm just hoping it wasn't a one night fluke and that we can move her into her new room for good.
Another random but more like a bitch: my old cat began pissing in a corner in the downstairs family room. She would purposely walk further than her litter box to piss in said corner. It's been a bitch trying to get the smell of cat piss out of that corner and my DH is ready to kill the cat. We've determined it's behavioural. When we moved into this house, we rigged up a light to turn on when she went into her litter box room. We figure that she didn't like the light turning on and started to pee in the corner instead. Little bitch. I love her but really??

nettje: The dog/cat who lived in our house before us apparently had a favorite corner. It took us more than a few deep cleans to get most of that smell out, but it still comes back sometimes, especially when it's hot outside. This is the only thing we've found that helps deodorize that lingering stink, and it works for at least a few days: www.amazon.com/Renuzit-Neutralizer-Wonder-Citrus-Sunburst/dp/B000JJBMTU. They sell it at target, if you have one nearby. Sorry about the kitty situation. That smell is really the fucking worst, and it sucks to be mad at a pet you love!
My random: TB/proboards conversations are affecting my eating habits. I've eaten bagels pretty much every day since that whole bagels thread/confusion went down a while back. Today, I had to have waffles. Kind of hoping someone will start a thread about delicious vegetables...
Thanks mmo2112! I've got some natures miracle and I've soaked the carpet. I'm going to check it in a couple of days and see if it's helped. She's only been at it for a couple of weeks so I'm hoping it'll come out. I'm not sure if I can find the product you recommended at our target. I'm up in Canada and they've had poor selection at best. And now they're closing. If the stuff I bought doesn't work I'll look for it on amazon.
I'm worried about my daffodils and tulips. We're having fake spring this week (it was over 60 today), so all my bulbs have started coming up. I just know we're going to get a hard freeze, they'll all die, and I'll get no lovely flowers this year

Birds were singing when I woke up this morning. Told my sister I was worried that baby would look like he/she had a cone head at our ultrasound. She told me that I am weird and worry about the most random things. I took a nap, woke up forever ago but can't seem to fully be awake.

I work next to a local market with fabulous produce. I know I've mentioned before I buy a ton of fruit. I just ran next door and bought kumquats, plums, and grapes....and a giant chocolate chip cookie. The cashier was ringing me up and commented on how healthy my purchase was. So I picked up the cookie and said "Yup, that's me, super healthy."
Blasto, that happened to us two years ago and all the bulbs still did fine so take heart! And I'm in the midwest with harsh winters, normally they don't come up until late April. You could get a bag of mulch and just top them off if you want, we didn't and they still did fine (and we had some bad freezes afterward).
I'm the gamer in this relationship, and DH alternates between teasing me about it and just rolling his eyes. When it came to picking names for these twins, he knew what my top choice had always been for a girl, and when we found out we were having girls, he said, "Ugh, this isn't from a video game, is it?" I came clean on that one and said technically, yes, the name is used in one of my all-time favorite video games, but it's spelled differently, and it's different in the original Japanese anyway, so it totally doesn't count, right? He was satisfied with this.
Then it came time to pick the name for #2. I made a short list, we had some discussions about DH's likes and dislikes from it, and ultimately agreed on a name. I kept my mouth shut and chose not to volunteer that it also happens to be the name of a kick-ass character in the game I've been playing non-stop since it came out in November.
The plan was always that girl #1 would get my grandmother's name as a middle name. Since we're having two and DH's ailing grandmother even suggested we name one after her, we're using her name as a middle name for one of them. It's TOTALLY NOT MY FAULT that she just happens to have the same name as another one of my favorite characters from another game....
So yeah, four names, three of them are characters I adore from my three favorite video game series, and I've only fessed up to one of them. I think I'll keep it that way until they get here.

neongreen now I want to know the names...I'm a gamer as well and so is DH.
The name we already had picked out was Alice - in the first Phantasy Star game, the heroine was Alis (though she was Alisa in the original Japanese), and then a major character in Phantasy Star IV was Alys. We've also decided on Cassandra, who is a character in the Dragon Age series, and Catherine from the Myst series. All strong, smart, passionate characters who have much better things to do than sit in a castle and wait to be rescued.
(Okay, Catherine does need rescuing in one of the games. But she makes up for it by being super-awesome in the accompanying novels.)

I love all of those! Catherine (but with a K) is on our back up list. We considered Cassandra, too, but I can't get past the Greek Cassandra's sad life. Her lot is up there with King Lear's and it's all I can ever think of. I'm glad you have a good connotation because it's such a beautiful name!
