Thought I'd post this up even though I'm not sure how many made it over!!
For anyone who is interested in joining us, this is a check-in for anyone who is working toward getting and staying healthy and fit throughout their IF journey!
Tag me and give us some details about where you are in your journey and what kind of health and fitness goals you are working toward. We set small monthly goals and our next benchmark date is the first Monday in February.
Challenge of the week: do you track your daily steps? Is there room for improvement? What would be a reasonable step goal?
Married 10 years. DX: AMA, DOR, endo, one tube, +NK, homozygous MTHFR C677T, and abnormal endometrial function test. MFI with high DNA fragmentation and pericentric inversion on chromosome 9.
I'm doing really well with tracking every bitty ting in MyFitnessPal. Now, I defonately haven't been perfect eating wise, but seeing my calorie intake motivated me to workout yesterday so that's some good stuff.
Also, I see a nutritionist this week (requirement for IVF) and i'll be interested in seeing if I get the typical "eat more veggies" crap or if she'll actually give me useful info.
I weigh in tomorrow so we'll see what's happenin there too.
I'm going to jump back into this, I definitely fell off the wagon over the holidays.
I got a new fitibit because mine stopped charging. (Side note fitbit customer service rocks. They sent me a new fitbit after some back and forth questions and didn't require that I send the old one back). So yes I track my steps and there is definitely room for improvement. I work an office job and will barely hit 4000 throughout the work day so I need to up my steps outside those hours. It's been so cold/rainy lately that walking/running outside hasn't been appealing. I would like to get to 10,000 steps and hopefully 12,000 in the summer months.
My current goal is to start exercising, I'm hoping for 3 workouts a week.
Good job, murrt! Just being in the habit of tracking is a good thing. Good luck with the nutritionist appointment! Let us know if she share any pearls of wisdom. I could use a few tips right about now!
Has anyone seen Carol77B? I think she decided not to come over, but I'm not sure because I haven't checked TB in a while.
I'm hanging in there, but this weekend was an absolute diet-massacre. I don't even want to tell you guys all the bad things I ate. I was feeling sorry for myself and hormonal. Thankfully I can't eat THAT much anymore, not like I used to be able to, but what I did eat was pure crap. MH and I went for breakfast today after the IUI, too. As soon as I stop feeling so crampy and bloated I'm going to get my ass to the gym and get back on the wagon. I only had a few eggs, but I still feel like crap from the cycle.
Whoops COTW: Yes, I track. I've got a fitbit and I'm trying to stair-step my step-goal up month by month. I still wear it every day but I haven't been hitting my goal lately.
HEY - who all owns a fitbit?! We should make a fitbit group challenge! Not that that would actually encourage me to get off my ass, but it would still be fun!

Hi lemonliz - I am hoping that I can join this check in. I actually lost about 18 pounds over the last year (mainly as a result of better eating habits) plus, and have been in maintenance mode for about a month which is why I've never checked in on this before. However, I'm really feeling like I need some kind of accountability. I consider getting/being healthy a HUGE part of my fertility journey, as well as something that I need to do for my long term health. I've seen a lot of positive changes from making these lifestyle changes, so I'm hopeful that one day it will help with this immediate goal.
The thing that I'm really working on now is exercising regularly. My current goal is 30 minutes of cardio a day, but I haven't been doing very well with it the last week. I try to at least go on a long walk with my dog (don't really consider it cardio, but at least it's something). I'm not sure why it is so difficult for me to meet this goal - I literally have no excuses. I grew up playing sports, and I wish I had something competitive to participate in that would motivate me. I'd also like to get back into yoga again, but I don't like the studio that I go to.. where I already prepaid for at least 14 more visits. I just need to go on a yoga spree and use them up, so I can go to a new one... I'm not willing to eat that cost, though I was excited to see that a new teacher is starting. Maybe she'll be awesome
QOTW: I do not track daily steps, but my husband does with his phone.. seems to motivate him a bit. I've been contemplating getting a fitbit-style thing for a very long time now. Is it worth it? My competitive side makes me feel like this would be good motivation, but my sister/others keep telling me they're not worth it making me feel dumb for wanting one. What do you all think?
Welcome Bombonny! Of course, the more the merrier! Kudos on the 18 pounds, great job. It's been harder for me to maintain than it was to lose weight, so I totally understand the accountability issue.
I like my fitbit. It does help motivate me to be more active on a regular basis. I had/have two fitbits - the One and the Flex. I got One as a present a few years ago and Flex as a freebie from my PT job and I like them both but I would love it if the features I liked best about both of them were integrated. I like that I can see the details right on the screen of the One, but I like that I can wear the Flex and not have to clip it to my bra all the time. I think they came out with a new one that integrates all of these features but it was more expensive.

I would love a fitbit challenge! Hopefully we'll get some more ladies in on it too!

If we don't get a bunch of responses on this thread about a fitbit challenge, I'll post up a thread on the main board!

Well, I had my nutritionist appointment today. Other than it being decent reminders, it was largely a colossal waste of time. She gave me the standard recommendations (eat more fish and lean protein, etc.). She especially did not like that I'm doing low carb. She wants me to have 30 grams of carbs with every meal.
Anyway, I guess I'm going to try to follow nutritionist orders. She knew NOTHING about preparing the body for IVF, concerns about weight gain on the meds, etc. So....that all kind of sucked.
The two things I think I'll do as a result of meeting with her 1) add 1/2 an english muffin to my breakfast and a banana along with my peanut butter 2) TRY to stop eating in front of the TV....which is something I knew but need to be more focused on.
DH got me a Soleus Go! For xmas so I track pretty much everything now. It's like a fit bit but syncs to my phone for calls and texts. It tracks my sleep top which is awesome since I have horrible insomnia and sleep issues. I tend to have the opposite problem of most, I have weight loss and appetite loss issues. My current goal is to get my weight back up to 120 lbs (currently at 114lbs). Almost 3 weeks after surgery my daily steps goal is 6000. More than that and I have pain issues. I'm a small meal person and always try to have things like almonds, and dried fruit handy. I'm going to start work soon and am trying to come up with a daily meal plan, otherwise I tend to forget to eat all day.
Together since 2007
Married March 2011
TTC: since December 2011
IF Dx: endometriosis and unexplained IF, had left ovary and fallopian tube removed 12/31/14, also I have lupus and fibromyalgia.
Dh: SA good all around
Plan check on lupus/BW due to flare up from surgery then TTC naturally for 6 months.
Bombonny I have a Soleus Go, so I don't know if the fit bit does the same thing. I can set a "get up and move alarm" it goes off every 90 minutes right now amd reminds me to move around. It's been a lifesaver for me.

I'm working on losing about 25 pounds, all of which I gained back after getting married. Prior to the wedding, I lost about 120 pounds, which I'm really proud of, but I'm so disappointed that I've gained some of it back. In particular, I noticed a substantial gain this cycle, whereas I had been holding steady at just under 20 pounds up from the wedding. I'm hoping it was just being on the Femara, so hormones causing me to gain a bit??
As far as how I'm getting there, I'm currently a member of Curves, and have been since I started my weight loss journey. It worked so well, but I've definitely plateaued the last six months or so. So DH and I are looking into joining a gym together. I also bought myself a FitBit in October, so I track my steps and work my ass off to get my 10,000k+ each day. I would love to join the FitBit challenge, so I'll look into that! My goal for the next few weeks is to work harder to eat balanced, healthy meals instead of just what's easy. I really think a lack of balance is what's hurting me right now.
QOTW: I do own a FitBit and track my steps. I make sure to hit my 10,000k each day, but usually go over in an effort to hit my calories out and mileage goals, too.
lemonliz-I would like to join your check-in if that is ok. I have been working over the last 5 or so months to lose weight. The goal would be 100 pounds total. I am at like 35 or so right now. This goal is based on needing to be below 30% BMI for IVF if we need to go that route. Whether we go there or not it would put me at a healthy weight!
I am getting there through diet and exercise. I started doing a program with friends and get other friends to join me in clean eating weeks and accountability groups. So far it is working. I just need to jump start myself again now that we are back from all the holiday poor choices!!!
I have a fitbit and love tracking my steps. I work a desk job from home so I really need to get more steps in for sure. My goal is still 10,000 a day as I do not hit even 5000 some days!
