Our number came up for respite care!!!

Perfect timing. DH is working more than 100 hours a week (some overnights and 12 hour work days) right now, to be followed by being at sea for weeks at a time from now until he retires from the Navy (November).  I have one friend locally who I feel comfortable watching the kids (she was DSs former ABA and we really hit it off), but she moves to Alaska in May. 

I can get by until school lets out for DS, though April will be dicey with DH at sea a lot and DS on April Vacation, but I'm for sure going to need help come summer.  We've been on a wait list since October and this timing is seriously PERFECT.  Ideally I really need their help come April and this should allow for paperwork to happen in time for that. 

Just had to share.  I'm so relieved and I know many of you will understand.

funchicken,it's ridiculous. And it only will get worse as the year goes on with time at sea followed by a deployment. It's rough on the single folks, and if marriages are iffy, this'll do them in. They've already had one sailor not show up for work...he was found sitting on his bed with a 9mil in his hand (he's physically ok now).

Knowing we're good at home will make the time away easier on DH...and knowing I get a break will make it easier on me.

Is your respite through EFMP or ECHO?  Ours is currently through EFMP but when we PCS this summer we will have to go through ECHO and their wait list.  Good times.

I am so glad that you will be getting some relief.  Respite has been a God send for us!

We have a move coming up this year as well...but it's for retirement.

I wish we were retiring. LOL  6 more years.  6 more years.  What was the ECHO process for respite?  I have not experienced that yet but will in about 6mos.

@maxandruby, I'm super early in the process myself. At this point we've pretty much just confirmed his eligibility and then been wait listed for months.
