The Director of CARD called me. She put Mackenzie in to get the next available slot with their team. She said that girls are tricky and that Mackenzie does need to be evaluated. She said that I was right for pushing and she thanked me for advocating for my child.
I understand your frustrations. We went to dev pedi seeking testing for ADHD (DD *is* hyperactive and extremely impulsive) and were told they won't consider it until she is in public school (she goes to private and may never go to public) and failing. I can only assume they think she would fail private school and get kicked out and have to go to public or something if she "really" had ADHD. So it's kind of the same situation and kind of the opposite situation as yours. Either way the professionals aren't listening and aren't properly evaluating the kids.

This is interesting. Not to be a total creeper, but I think our DDs are literally the same age. Like within a day. And the people we saw clearly had no hesitations diagnosing ADHD.
mack, and akafred, we got an ADHD diagnosis at age 5. Our dev. Pedi said she doesn't like to start medication that young unless there is a safety issue or the behavior is becoming socially stigmatizing. We've been doing behavior mods with success for two years--my DD has inattentive-type, so not hyperactive or impulsive. I think we might be looking at an NLD diagnosis in the future..time will tell, I guess.
Mack, I'm glad you're going to be seen by the right team this time.
